Patterson enters 3A top 10

Patterson High School’s recent surge continued this week as the squad has entered the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class 3A Top 10 at No. 9.
The Lumberjacks (7-2), who have won seven straight after falling two a pair of Class 5A opponents to start the season, had been receiving votes in recent weeks. They received 25 points in this week’s poll following their 57-7 victory against Berwick High for homecoming Friday.
The ’Jacks will look to keep their winning streak going Friday when they host Franklin in a District 7-3A matchup to decide the district title.
University Lab is the top team in Class 3A, although the Cubs will be playing in the Division 2 select playoffs this postseason. The top team in the rankings that will participate in the nonselect rankings along with the Lumberjacks is fifth-ranked Union Parish.
In Class 1A, Central Catholic’s District 7-1A foe, Vermilion Catholic (9-0), is remained at No. 2 in the latest Class 1A poll.
Metairie Park Country Day, who defeated Central Catholic 41-7 Friday, moved up a spot to No. 9 in the latest poll.
