Teurlings Catholic tops MCHS

The Morgan City Lady Tigers ran into a buzz saw in Division 3’s top ranked team, Teurlings Catholic, in the first round of the playoffs as the Lady Rebels defeated the Lady Tigers, 25-15, 25-11, 25-5.

Kloé Liner had three kills and nine digs for Morgan City, while Layne Reynaud had seven assists and 12 digs.

Other top contributors included Jaiveianna Jones, three kills and a dig; Savannah Loupe, seven digs; and Marilynn Bailey, five digs.

Morgan City finished its season with a 13-26 mark, while Teurlings Catholic improved to 36-4.

Despite the early exit from the playoffs, several Lady Tigers put up solid numbers this season.

Reynaud led the squad with 517 assists, while Loupe had 400 digs and Jones 55 blocks and 367 kills.

Monday’s game was the last for Morgan City’s five seniors, Reynaud, Liner, Loupe, Taylor Prince and Bailey.
