Cleco aid available

St. Mary/Vermilion Community Action will begin accepting applications for the Cleco Alternative Rate for Electricity program, according to Chief Executive Officer Almetra J. Franklin.
This program will provide a 25 percent discount on the fuel cost portion of a Cleco bill during the months of July, August and September 2014. This is not the same as the Liheap Utility Assistance program and is not a payment on the utility bill, but a reduction of the fuel cost on the bill.
Applications for the CARE program will begin on Monday from 9 a.m. to noon. Representatives will be at the Patterson Community Center on Wednesday, Oct. 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thereafter, they will be at the Patterson Town Hall on every Wednesday.
