Funeral services will be held during a 4 p.m. Mass of Christian burial Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Centerville for Mrs. Vera Ardeneaux Auenson, 83, a native and resident of Centerville, who passed away Monday, Aug. 25, 2014, at her home.
She will be laid to rest in the St. Joseph Church Cemetery. The Rev. Ruben Primor will officiate the Mass, with Deacon Brent Bourgeois assisting. Serving as pallbearers will be Kenneth Auenson II, Barry Burnett, Chuck Cortez, Dustin Saucier, Farren Saucier and Charles Saucier. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Auenson, James Auenson, Bobby Theriot and Joey Aufieri.
Vera was a devout Catholic of great faith. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Centerville and served as a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Ladies Altar Society. She was also active with the American Legion. She enjoyed family gatherings and enjoyed cooking for her family even more. Some of her favorite pastimes were sewing and crafts. She also loved traveling, fishing and camping with her husband.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband, Octave “O.J.” Auenson of Centerville; one son, Kenneth Auenson and his wife, Jackie, of Bayou Vista; one daughter, Bridget A. Burnett, of Bayou Vista; five grandchildren, Kenneth Auenson II, Rachel Auenson, Rebekah McElveen, Bryan Burnett and Barry Burnett; four great-grandchildren, Sara Auenson, Kara Burnett, Dylan McElveen and James Auenson; and three sisters, Burnie Mae Barrilleaux, Greta Ross and Mareen Ardeneaux; as well as two very dear friends, Evelyn Ortego and Nell Hopkins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Melissa Ardeneaux; and her lifelong friend, Myrle Braun Lanclos.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 1 p.m. until time of Mass at 4 p.m., with the rosary being prayed at 3 p.m.
