No. 3 E.D. White edges No. 9 MCHS 1-0

In a Division II top 10 matchup, E.D. White edged Morgan City High School, 1-0, in District 7-II boys’ soccer action Tuesday.
E.D. White, which entered the game ranked No. 3 according to the latest unofficial Louisiana High School Athletic Association power rankings available, scored the game’s lone goal in the second half against Morgan City, ranked No. 9 in the latest rankings.
“The boys played a very hard fought game and played very well defensively,” Morgan City coach Trevor Patterson said.
E.D. White scored the game’s lone goal in the 65th minute.
Patterson said his midfielders and forwards had problems with their passing and didn’t take the shots when they had them.
“It was a one directional game for us, and it didn’t help us,” Patterson said.
Morgan City (9-7-3 overall, 3-4 in district) will close its regular season Friday when it travels to face Vandebilt Catholic in District 7-II action. The match is set to begin at approximately 7 p.m.

The E.D. White Lady Cardinals shut out the Morgan City Lady Tigers, 6-0, in Tuesday’s District 7-II contest.
Despite the lopsided final, Patterson said his team played well initially, holding the No. 8 ranked Lady Cardinals off the scoreboard and creating their own opportunities.
However, in the 25th minute, E.D. White broke the scoreless contest with a goal and added two more in the first half.
E.D. White added three more goals in the second half.
Morgan City (5-10-6, 2-3-2) will return to action Friday when it closes its regular season at Vandebilt Catholic in a District 7-II contest set for a 5 p.m. start.
