Percle enshrined in horseshoe hall

A member of the Bayou Horseshoe Pitchers Association was inducted in the Louisiana State Horseshoe Pitchers Association Hall of Fame last month.
Angela Percle, who was welcomed into the group at the state singles’ tournament in Welsh on Sept. 29, is a Morgan City native. She was inducted along with Nelda Addison of Shreveport.
Percle joins her husband Jimmy Percle, a 2005 inductee into the organization.
She said she was honored to be inducted into this elite group.
 “It has been a lot of hard work getting there,” she said.
Percle said it is also nice to join her husband as a member of the hall of fame.
While the duo are the first from the Bayou Horseshoe Pitching Association to be inducted, they join two other couples who were inducted, including Addison and her husband.  
The Percles are among the four Bayou Horseshoe Pitcher members who have been inducted into the elite group. Other past inductees are Bob Scully, 2003; Al Dodson and Rodney Fromenthal, both in 2004; and Dudley Michel, 2011.  
Of her lengthy list of accomplishments, Percle said this induction tops them all.
Percle was the first sanctioned female player in the LA 70 Ringers, the charter club in St. Mary Parish and the predecessor of the Bayou Horseshoe Pitchers Association. She joined in 1997.
Percle was elected BHPA first vice president in 2000, a position she still holds.
She serves as tournament and league director for BHPA and has been integral in BHPA’s Muscular Dystrophy Tournament.   
As for her playing accomplishments, she won State Doubles’ titles in 2000, 2002-04, 2008 and 2010; Singles Champion in 1999, 2001, 2004 and 2008; Mixed Doubles Champion in 2009 and 2011; BHPA City Champion in Singles in 2000, 2007, 2011 and 2012; and Doubles Champion in 2005, 2008 and 2012.
Among her other accomplishments were BHPA Player of the Year nine times, BHPA Most Improved Player in 2008 and 2009, and BHPA Sportsman of the Year in 1999 and 2008.
She has a high ringer game percentage of 80 percent, which she has accomplished twice and has been included in the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association Women’s Top 100 several times. As of the beginning of this month, she was ranked 71st on that list with a 54.3 percent average
