Vandebilt Catholic sweeps Morgan City

The Morgan City High School boys’ soccer team fell to Vandebilt Catholic, 6-0, in District 6-III action in Morgan City Tuesday.
Morgan City coach Trevor Patterson said the Tigers were “holding their own” until the Terriers, ranked No. 2 in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s latest Division III power rankings, converted two “easy” back-to-back goals.
“After that, we kept pushing up more, allowing them to break free,” he said.
The Terriers scored three more goals via breakaway plays and another on a penalty kick.
Morgan City (5-9-2 overall, 0-2 in District 6-III) will return to action Friday when it travels to face E.D. White in Thibodaux in a 7 p.m. district contest.
Lady Tigers fall in mercy-rule contest
The Morgan City Lady Tigers fell to Vandebilt Catholic, 8-0, via mercy rule Tuesday in Morgan City in District 6-III play.
Vandebilt Catholic, the top-ranked squad in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s latest Division III power rankings, scored six goals in the first half.
Morgan City coach Trevor Patterson said the Lady Terriers played their junior varsity in the second half and scored two more goals with five minutes remaining in regulation to end the game via mercy rule.
The Lady Tigers (0-11-1, 0-2) will return to action Friday when they travel to face E.D. White in a 5 p.m. district contest.
