La. casino take fell 4.4% in Dec.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Gamblers lost $202.2 million to Louisiana casinos in December, down 4.4 percent from a year earlier.
Lake Charles was the only market to show an increase, and its winnings rose only 1.6 percent, according to figures compiled by state police and released Thursday by the Louisiana Gaming Control Board
The New Orleans market showed a drop of 16 percent for the month as riverboats and the Harrah’s casino in downtown New Orleans took in $48.7 million.
The $11.9 million take at L’Auberge Baton Rouge was 8.3 above the December 2012 total. In Lake Charles, L’Auberge took in $33.7 million, up 5.1 percent.
L’Auberge Lake Charles had more than half that market’s $59.9 million total. The slots casino at Delta Downs racetrack took in $14.6 million, down 4.7 from December 2012, and the Isle of Capri riverboat casino made $11.5 million, up $14,400 or 0.1 percent.
The three riverboats in Baton Rouge took in $22.6 million, down 1.7 percent. Hollywood’s revenue plunged 18.7 percent to $5.8 million while the Belle of Baton Rouge rose 0.7 percent, to $4.9 million.
Although the Shreveport market total was down just $5,600 from a year ago and nearly equal to that in Lake Charles at $59.4 million, it was split among six riverboats and the Louisiana Downs track casino. The Margaritaville casino, which opened in June, took in $9 million. Revenue at the other five riverboats fell from 21.9 percent to 5.7 percent, while the slots casino’s revenue fell 17.1 percent to $4.8 million.
In the New Orleans market, Harrah’s New Orleans casino made $28.5 million, down 17.8 percent from a year earlier, and the Treasure Chest riverboat took in $7.4 million, down 16 percent. The drops were smaller at the market’s other casinos: — 11.8 percent, to $9.1 million, at Boomtown and 1.28 percent, to $3.6 million, at the Fair Grounds Race Course slots casino.
The Amelia Belle riverboat in Morgan City took in $4.1 million, down 1.2 percent from the same month a year ago.
In Opelousas, the Evangeline Downs track casino won $.75 million, down 4.8 percent.
