Louisiana-Lafayette beats winless Oakland 84-75

CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — Elfrid Payton scored 32 and Shawn Long contributed 24 points and 17 rebounds as Louisiana-Lafayette upended winless Oakland 84-75 on Saturday night.

Payton and Long had big numbers with Long netting another double-double for the season and adding to his already high 10.5 rebounds per game average. The Cajuns were 9 of 20 from beyond the arc.

La-Lafayette (3-2) was trailing 44-39 at halftime and fell even further behind (61-49) in the second half. But in an 11 minute stretch, the Ragin' Cajuns outscored Oakland 35-14 which started with a Payton 3-pointer and led to the win. The Cajuns had 39 free throw attempts, making 25, compared to Oakland's 11-16.

Oakland (0-5) was hoping to turn it around after two of their players, Duke Mondy and Dante Williams were re-instated following a two game suspension. Williams scored 8 point and Travis Bader led the Golden grizzlies with 19 points.
