Louisiana (17-14), making its fourth trip to the postseason in the past five years, will participate in the CIT for the third time since 2012. The Ragin’ Cajuns hosted Rice in 2012 in the Cajundome before reaching the CIT quarterfinals last season, falling to eventual champion Evansville at Blackham Coliseum.
A&M-Corpus Christi (25-7), which lost in the championship game of last week’s Southland Conference Tournament, is making its third consecutive appearance in the CIT after reaching the second round the previous two seasons. Last season, the Islanders defeated Florida Gulf Coast to earn its first 20-win season under head coach Willis Wilson.
This year’s CIT features a 26-team field with all games being played at campus sites. The first round will take place March 14-16, followed by the second round March 18-20. The CIT Quarterfinals are scheduled for March 22-24, with the semifinals March 27 and the CIT Championship Game March 29.
Both the semifinals and Championship Game will be broadcast on the CBS Sports Network.
