Ragin' Cajuns report for camp

Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns head football coach Mark Hudspeth welcomed 105 players Wednesday as his team reported for fall camp in preparation for the 2015 season opener Sept. 5 against Kentucky.
Hudspeth, who is 36-16 in four seasons as the Ragin’ Cajuns’ head coach, welcomed the return of 50 letterwinners from a team that posted its fourth straight 9-4 record, including a victory in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.
The Ragin’ Cajuns moved into their rooms during the morning before receiving equipment and checking in with coaches in the afternoon.
Hudspeth, offensive coordinator Jay Johnson, first-year defensive coordinator Melvin Smith and selected team members participated in the annual Ragin’ Cajuns Media Day during the afternoon at the UL Alumni House before the team held its first official meeting on campus during the evening.
The Ragin’ Cajuns opened fall drills today with a pair of workouts with a split squad. Veteran players worked out this morning, while the first- and second-year players hit the practice field for the first time at 4:30 p.m. The Ragin’ Cajuns will hold their first joint practice Friday at 5:30 p.m.
The Ragin’ Cajuns will open the season on the road against Kentucky Sept. 5 before hosting Northwestern State in the 15th annual Herbert Heymann Classic Sept. 12, at Cajun Field. Season tickets are available by calling the Cajundome Ticket Office at 337-265-2357 or at RaginCajuns.com.
