Santos to participate in all-star challenge

Tulane University senior kicker Cairo Santos will participate in the 2014 Quicken Loans All-Star Football Challenge, a skills competition featuring college football’s brightest stars.
The 16th annual program will take place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and is scheduled to air tonight at 8 o’clock on ESPN2. It will have an encore airing on ESPN2 at 1 p.m. on Sunday. ESPN also will air an encore at 3 p.m. on April 27.
Individual events in the 2014 Quicken Loans All-Star Football Challenge include: Quicken Loans QB Accuracy, Skechers Hands Competition, Mercedes-Benz Lineman Strength Challenge, Eckrich Obstacle Course and TD Ameritrade Speed Kick.
To conclude the program, the players will be divided into three teams for The Quicken Loans Team Competition.
This season, Santos knocked down 16-of-23 field goal attempts and all 38 of his PAT attempts for a team-best 86 points. He notched two game-winners (North Texas, East Carolina) and tied for the longest field goal in the nation this season with a 56-yarder at the University of Louisiana-Monroe.
Santos also tied the school single game record with five field goals against East Carolina.
He collected First-Team All-Conference USA honors, was also a Groza Award semifinalist and was tabbed a Senior CLASS Second Team All-America selection.
A consensus All-American in 2012, Santos won the Groza Award that season and also set a NCAA record by going a perfect 21-for-21 on field goal attempts.
Santos finished his collegiate career with 309 points and owns the second-longest streak in NCAA history with 26 consecutive field goals made.
