South Alabama routs Louisiana-Lafayette 30-8

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — Kendall Houston rushed for two short-yardage touchdowns, and South Alabama took advantage of three first half turnovers to rout Louisiana-Lafayette 30-8 Saturday night.

Following a 40-yard field goal by Aleem Sunanon, South Alabama (6-6, 4-3 Sun Belt Conference) recovered a fumble on Louisiana-Lafayette's next play from scrimmage and converted it into a 1-yard score by Houston. Louisiana-Lafayette fumbled the ensuing kickoff, setting up Houston's 4-yard score. Sunanon then made two more field goals from 19 and 20 yards.

Qudarius Ford had a 42-yard interception return for a touchdown with 16 seconds remaining in the first half, and the Jaguars led 30-0 at half.

Louisiana-Lafayette (8-4, 5-2) scored when Jalen Nixon connected with Ricky Johnson with a 47-yard TD pass late in the fourth quarter.

The Ragin' Cajuns were denied their first outright conference title, and ride a two-game losing streaking into the New Orleans Bowl against Tulane December 21.
