Stewart earns pre-season honors

University of Houston safety Trevon Stewart has received several pre-season football honors.
Stewart was named to the Athlon Sports 2015 All-American Athletic Conference preseason second team and the second team of Phil Steele’s preseason All-American Athletic Conference team.
A 2014 team captain, Stewart finished the year with 56 tackles, including two for a loss, while also tallying three interceptions. A member of the 2014 Jim Thorpe Award Watch List, Stewart is third nationally among active players with 291 career tackles and led the nation with 10 turnovers in 2013 — six fumble recoveries and four interceptions.
Stewart was one of 11 members of the Cougars’ football team named to the Athlon Sports 2015 All-American Athletic Conference teams. Running back Kenneth Farrow, cornerback William Jackson and safety Adrian McDonald were first-team selections, while wide receiver Demarcus Ayers also was a second-team selection, offensive tackle Alex Cooper, defensive tackle B.J. Singleton, linebacker Steven Taylor and kicker Kyle Bullard were third-team choices and quarterback Greg Ward Jr. and offensive tackle Zach Johnson were fourth-team selections.
Stewart was one of 12 Cougars named to Phil Steele’s preseason All-American Athletic Conference team. Jackson and long snapper Nolan Frese were named 2015 Pre-season All-American first-team selections as well as Farrow and McDonald. Singleton also was a second-team selection, while Ayers was a third-team choice and Cooper, Johnson, Taylor, cornerback Lee Hightower, Bullard and punter Logan Piper were fourth-team selections.
