Tulane holds off Jackson State 70-65

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Jay Hook poured in 31 points on 10 of 16 shooting to pace Tulane over Jackson State 70-65 on Saturday.

Tulane (5-5) got 16 points from Jonathan Stark and 11 points from Louis Dabney, while Trevante Drye grabbed 10 boards.

Jackson State (2-7) was led by Julysses Nobles with 23 points. Brandon West and Javeres Brent both chipped in with 14 points.

The Wave build an 11-point lead with 3:54 left in the first half on Hook's long 3-pointer and subsequent layup. But an 11-3 run by Jackson State closed the gap to three points at the half.

Tulane pushed its lead to 12 after a Hook trey and a pair of made free throws by Payton Henson, but the Tigers roared back to take the lead at 60-59 with 3:16 left on a Nobles free throw.

Tulane then made 9 of 12 free throws to ice it.
