3 charged after home search turns up drugs, guns

Authorities discovered marijuana, firearms and drug paraphernalia inside a Morgan City home after conducting a search warrant Tuesday, and arrested three people who were inside, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Rene Landry, 56, of Brashear Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:32 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of possession of Schedule I marijuana with intent to distribute, transactions involving proceeds from controlled dangerous substance activity, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone) and possession of firearms in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.
—Cynthia Daigle, 48, of Brashear Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:32 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of possession of Schedule I marijuana with intent to distribute and violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone).
—Valane Villarreal, 48, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:32 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of possession of Schedule I marijuana and violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone).
The Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division along with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division executed a search warrant on a Brashear Avenue residence.
When officers entered the residence they located Landry, Villarreal and Daigle. Landry and Daigle stated that they both lived at the residence, Blair said.
Officers located suspected marijuana in the residence and items used to smoke and package marijuana, Blair said. Villarreal told officers she had come to the residence to purchase marijuana, Blair said. Officers located several firearms and currency associated with the sale of illegal narcotics, Blair said.
All three suspects were jailed and also charged with the drug free zone violations because the residence is within 2,000 feet of an elementary school, Blair said.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Fabiola Quintanilla, 23, of Morgan City, at 9:52 a.m. Tuesday on the charges of expired motor vehicle inspection sticker and driving under suspension, and on a warrant charging her with improper backing.
A patrolling officer in the area of Levee Road observed a vehicle with an expired motor vehicle inspection sticker. The officer conducted a traffic stop and the driver, Quintanilla, was jailed.
—Gerald Jones, 40, of Morgan City, at noon Tuesday on a warrant charging him with failure to pay probation fee.
Jones was already incarcerated at the Morgan City Police Department Jail, when an active warrant from the Sixth Ward City Court was filed, Blair said. Jones was jailed.
—Angela Curtis, 28, of Chauvin Street in Franklin, at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday on warrants for failure to pay fines and probation fees, and for three counts of failure to appear to comply with drug court.
Curtis turned herself into the Morgan City Police Department for active warrants held for the 16th Judicial Court (Drug Court). Curtis also had active warrants for the Sixth Ward City Court. She was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 34 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Aldwin Cox, 49, of the 200 block of Union Street in Morgan City, at 1:08 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of probation. Cox turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City. No bail is set.
—Daryan Parvino, 22, of the 1300 block of Second Street in Morgan City, at 9:39 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court. Parvino was transported from Pinellas County, Florida, to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center and booked on the warrant. Bail is set at $100,000.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
