8 face charges in killing

Five more people face charges in the May 20 shooting death of Mikki Dauntain, 23, of Morgan City, brought by 16th Judicial District Assistant District Attorney Anthony Saleme.
The arraignments and another one expected on Jan. 28 make a total of eight people charged in the shooting, including two for second-degree murder.
Named Dec. 10 are:
—Ashley Nicole Rudolph, 21, Front Street in Morgan City, and Etoyi Monray Jones, 38, of Bowman Street in Morgan City are charged with accessory after the fact to second-degree murder.
—Cassandra Garrett, 49, Bowman Street in Morgan City and Ashley Joseph Thomas, 44, of St. Martinville, for obstruction of justice by tampering with evidence and conspiracy to commit obstruction of justice by tampering with evidence. Rudolph faces those additional charges also.
—Joseph Patrick Madise, 60, of Morgan City, was arraigned on the charges of accessory after the fact to second degree murder and obstruction of justice in the murder investigation.
Linda Madise, 37, of Sixth Street in Morgan City is expected to be arraigned next month for accessory after the fact to second degree murder and obstruction of justice.
Jessicah Johnson was indicted for second-degree murder by a grand jury on Dec. 9 for her role in the shooting.
Justin Patterson has been accused of shooting Dauntain and was indicted by a grand jury for second-degree murder earlier. He has a March 17 trial date set.
Second-degree murder carries a life sentence upon conviction.
The defendants face 40 years in prison on the obstruction charge in a crime that carries a life sentence and 30 years on the conspiracy charge. Accessory after the fact carries up to a five-year prison sentence.
Saleme said he is not expecting additional arraignments in the case.
Court documents and police affidavits reveal what police state they learned after the shooting and the extent of the attempted cover-up involving two families and their significant others, which included a former St. Mary Parish sheriff’s deputy. Much of the information is based on the statements of Linda Madise, the mother of Rudolph.
