Amelia man arrested for possession of psilocybin mushroom in Siracusaville

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 43 complaints in the parish and the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Osham Geovany Reyes Flores, 31, of the 800 block of Magnolia Street in Amelia, was arrested at 4:37 a.m. today for possession of Schedule I (psilocybin) with intent to distribute, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug-free zone), transactions involving drug proceeds, license plate light required, and no driver’s license.
Narcotics division detectives conducted a traffic stop on La. 182 in Siracusaville after observing a vehicle without a working license plate light. A detective made contact with the driver who was identified as Flores. During the traffic stop, the detective received consent to search the vehicle and located a suspected psilocybin mushroom, Hebert said. Through further inquiry, the detective learned that Flores intended to distribute the illegal substance, Hebert said. Cash totaling $1,788 was also located. The vehicle and U.S. currency was seized pending forfeiture. Flores was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.
—Melissa Frangenberg, 46, of the 8800 block of La. 182 in Amelia, was arrested at 10:59 p.m. Monday for unauthorized use of a movable. A deputy conducted an investigation into a complaint of a vehicle that was taken by Frangenberg without the owner’s permission. The deputy located the missing vehicle on La.182 in Amelia. As the vehicle approached, the driver saw the deputy and attempted to drive away. The deputy stopped the vehicle and confirmed that the driver was Frangenberg. She was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.
—Jose Lopez, 41, of the 7400 block of Lonpon Loop in Houston, was arrested at 3:15 p.m. Monday for theft of goods. After responding to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista, a deputy learned from employees that Lopez was seen attempting to leave the store without paying for items. Lopez was taken to the parish jail and held. Bail is set at $1,000.
—De’von E. Marsh, 21, of the 1000 block of Ciro Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:48 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear for simple battery. A deputy located Marsh at his residence on the warrant. He was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.
—Brian Weston, 25, of the 2600 block of Fifth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 9:01 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of speeding and driving under suspension. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area conducted a traffic stop and made contact with a passenger identified as Weston. During the investigation, the deputy learned of the active warrant for Weston’s arrest. He was taken to the parish jail and held. Bail is set at $3,500.
—Larosa Washington, 58, of Odile Street in Amelia, was arrested at 12:16 a.m. today for theft. A deputy responded to a complaint of theft at a casino in Amelia. Upon arrival, the deputy learned that Washington took money from the bar. The deputy located Washington, and he was taken to the parish jail and held. Bail is set at $1,000.
—Rand P. Metrejean Jr., 48, of the 100 block of West Side Park in Amelia, was arrested at 9:49 a.m. Sunday on a warrant from Morgan City Police Department for failure to appear to pay probation fee. A deputy investigating a single vehicle crash in Amelia made contact with the driver, identified as Metrejean. The deputy learned that Metrejean held an active warrant for his arrest from Morgan City police. Metrejean was taken to the Morgan City Police Department.
Morgan City Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrest:
—Brittany N. Thomas, 23, of Lesley Drive in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:28 p.m. Monday on a warrant for theft less than $500.
Thomas turned herself in at the Morgan City Police Department and was released on $5,000 bail. According to the affidavit, Thomas committed a theft in the amount of $170.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—D’Angelo White, 18, of the 500 block of Dangerfield Street in Patterson, was arrested at 10:35 p.m. Monday for possession of marijuana first offense. White was taken to jail and is being held on $2,000 bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
