St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 44 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests pertaining to east St. Mary Parish:
—Eulalia H. McCoy, 19, of the 300 block of Snead Street in Berwick, was arrested at 7:23 p.m. Tuesday by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin on a warrant for possession of MDMA with intent to distribute. McCoy was jailed and released on $1,500 bail.
—Priscilla Delafuente, 29, of the 200 block of California Street in Berwick, was arrested at 2:33 a.m. today for driving while intoxicated. A deputy patrolling the Siracusaville area watched a vehicle cross the centerline of La. 182. The driver was identified as Delafuente, and a deputy smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath. The deputy also observed that Delafuente was swaying from side to side where she stood. Delafuente performed poorly on the field sobriety test. She later refused to take a breath test. Delafuente was jailed. No bail is set.
Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrest:
—Jared James Leblanc, 30, of Lake Charles, was arrested at 4:19 p.m. Tuesday for reckless operation of a moving vehicle and resisting an officer.
Detectives observed a vehicle traveling eastbound being operated in a reckless manner on the U.S. 90 bridge in Morgan City. The vehicle was observed traveling in excess of 90 mph on the bridge, swerving from lane to lane, Crouch said. The vehicle was stopped on U.S. 90, and as detectives and officers were exiting their vehicle, the driver began to drive off, Crouch said.
Officers were able to detain the vehicle and observed the driver acting suspiciously inside his vehicle. As officers were securing the driver, Leblanc, he began to pull away from officers and had to be physically restrained. He was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Samuel Gant, 54, of the 500 block of Taft Street in Patterson, was arrested at 10:28 a.m. Tuesday for simple assault. Gant was jailed on $304 bail.
