Morgan City Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrests:
—Austin J. Stevens, 18, of Sixth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:31 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for simple burglary, a warrant for theft less than $500, a warrant for failure to appear for reckless operation.
Detectives located Stevens at a Sixth Street residence. The warrants stemmed from an investigation by detectives of a theft that occurred at a La. 182 business in October.
He was also charged with an additional warrant and jailed.
—Jessie C. Davis, 21, of Morgan City, was arrested at 10:20 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for aggravated assault with a firearm, a warrant on two counts for contempt of court, a warrant for possession of marijuana, criminal trespass, resisting an officer, and on a hold for probation and parole.
Officers observed Davis on Fifth Street near Duke Street. Davis fled from officers and led the officers on a foot pursuit throughout the area. Officers were able to locate Davis hiding under an abandoned residence and placed him under arrest on the outstanding warrant. The aggravated assault warrant stemmed from an incident in the Cherry Street area in which Davis was alleged to have produced a handgun during a threat made to another which occurred in November. He was jailed.
—Keddrick D. Jones, 26, of Cherry Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:20 p.m. Thursday for speeding (school zone) and operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.
An officer observed a vehicle speeding in the area of Shannon School during school zone hours and detained the driver, Jones. Jones was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. He was jailed.
—Aaron Lightfoot, 26, of Ninth Street in Franklin, was arrested at 7 p.m. Thursday for possession of Schedule II controlled dangerous substance (crack cocaine) with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of Schedule IV controlled dangerous substance (Xanax), possession of Schedule IV controlled dangerous substance (Soma), possession of Schedule I controlled dangerous substance MDMA (Ecstasy), violation of a uniformed controlled dangerous substance law within 1,000 feet of a school zone, possession of drug paraphernalia, and illegal use of a controlled drug in the presence of persons under age 17.
—Sharnell A. Ruffin, 27, of Orange Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7 a.m. Thursday for possession of Schedule II controlled dangerous substance (crack cocaine) with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal use of a controlled drug in the presence of a person under age 17, and violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance law within 1,000 feet of a school zone.
Detectives executed a search warrant at an Orange Street residence. The warrant was based on complaints of illegal drug activity at the residence. During the search, investigators recovered suspected crack cocaine and marijuana which evidence indicated was intended for sales. Detectives also located MDMA (Ecstasy) and Xanax-A. The residence was within close proximity to an elementary school and the occupants were additionally charged. The occupants, Lightfoot and Ruffin were jailed.
—Rodney D. Lewis, 28, of Grinage Drive in Houma, was arrested at 3:15 a.m. Friday for operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license, and improper tail lamps.
An officer observed a vehicle with improper equipment at the intersection of Brashear Avenue and Federal Avenue. The driver, Davis was discovered to be operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. He was jailed.
