A 37-year-old Morgan City man was arrested Saturday after he was accused of striking two people at a residence and then striking two others who attempted to intervene, Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks said in a news release.
—David S. Blair, 37, of Bush Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:49 p.m. Saturday for appearing intoxicated in public, two counts of domestic abuse battery and two counts of simple battery.
Officers were dispatched to a Bush Street residence regarding a disturbance. Officers were advised that Blair was intoxicated and causing a disturbance at the residence. Witnesses advised that Blair struck two people who also lived in the residence and is accused of striking two other people who attempted to intervene. Blair was jailed.
Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
—Paul R. Stelly, 45, of Tupelo Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:33 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for simple battery-domestic.
An officer observed a vehicle being operated by a driver not wearing a seatbelt and stopped the vehicle in the area of Sixth and Marguerite streets to investigate. The driver of the vehicle, Stelly, was discovered to be wanted on an arrest warrant for the Morgan City Police Department. The warrant stemmed from an incident in which Stelly is accused of choking and striking a female at his residence during an argument Jan. 31. He was jailed.
—Lawrence G. Francois, 43, of Orange Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:08 p.m. Saturday for simple battery.
Officers were dispatched to a Federal Avenue convenience store in regards to a subject striking a female inside the store. Officers arrived and were advised that Francois had struck a female inside the store during a disturbance. Officers were able to secure video, which confirmed the battery. Francois was jailed.
—Milton C. Boudreaux, 48, of Lizabeth Drive in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:23 p.m. Saturday for possession of synthetic marijuana, obstruction of public passages and appearing in an intoxicated condition.
Officers were dispatched to property at Levee Road and Front Street regarding someone who was trespassing on the property. Officers located Boudreaux in the company of a 7-year-old juvenile. Boudreaux, who appeared intoxicated, was questioned and found to possess a pipe commonly used to smoke illegal narcotics along with suspected synthetic marijuana, Banks said.
Boudreaux’s vehicle was also found to be blocking a public access to the property. Boudreaux was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated. The juvenile was released to family members.
—Francisco J. Gonzales, 40, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8 p.m. Sunday for domestic abuse battery, appearing in an intoxicated condition and resisting an officer by false information.
Officers were dispatched to a Fourth Street residence regarding a domestic disturbance. Officers learned that Gonzales was in an impaired condition at the residence and had struck a female during an altercation, Banks said. Gonzales concealed his identity, which was discovered during the booking process, Banks said. He was jailed.
—Juan Ruiz, 29, of Adams Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:23 p.m. Friday for no driver’s license, no insurance, resisting an officer by false information and no brake lights.
An officer observed a vehicle traveling on La. 182 with improper lighting and stopped the vehicle to investigate. The driver of the vehicle was detained and during questioning, attempted to conceal his identity from officers, telling officers he did not have documentation.
The officer was able to discover his identity and learned that the subject did not possess a valid driver’s license, nor vehicle insurance. Ruiz was jailed.
—Daniel Etchevers-Vargas, 40, of Golden Meadow, was arrested at 10:03 p.m. Friday for appearing intoxicated in public.
Officers were dispatched to a Brashear Avenue restaurant regarding an intoxicated person. Officers located a male subject, Etchevers-Vargas, who was accused of loitering in the business throughout the day. Etchevers-Vargas, who was impaired and smelled of alcoholic beverage could not provide for adequate transportation, Banks said. He was jailed.
—Terrence L. Johnson, 31, of Terrebonne Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:23 a.m. Saturday for possession of synthetic marijuana.
Officers were dispatched to Teche Regional Medical Center in regard to a suspicious subject. Officers were advised by security personnel of a man who was acting strange and approaching others in the hospital, Banks said. Officers located Johnson and began to question him. During the encounter, Johnson was found to be in possession of a hand-rolled cigar that contained suspected synthetic marijuana, Banks said. He was jailed.
—Regina Hebert, 34, of Clark Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 2:55 a.m. Saturday for appearing intoxicated in public.
Officers were summoned to a La. 182 motel in regard to an intoxicated female who was refusing to leave the premises. Officers arrived and located Hebert in an impaired condition. Officers made attempts to secure assistance for Hebert but were unsuccessful due to her intoxicated state, Banks said. She was arrested after she refused management request to leave the premises, Banks said. Hebert was jailed.
—Brandon M. Scott, 29, of Catherine Street in Patterson, was arrested at 1:41 a.m. Sunday on a warrant for criminal trespass.
Scott was located at the Patterson Police Department and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked on an outstanding warrant for the Morgan City Police Department. He was jailed.
—Gregory A. Garrett, 36, of Houma, was arrested at 9:45 a.m. Sunday for possession of marijuana first offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers were dispatched to a disturbance near Lake End Park on La. 70 involving a male and female. Officers came into contact with Garrett, who was identified as the suspect. Garrett was found to possess suspected marijuana and items of paraphernalia, Banks said. He was jailed.
—Todd Johnson, 34, of Iberia Street in New Iberia, was arrested at 4:20 p.m. Sunday for driving under suspension.
An officer observed a vehicle speeding in the area of La. 70 and detained the vehicle to speak with the driver. The driver, Johnson was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license after he could not produce a valid driver’s license, Banks said. He was jailed.
—Juan P. Acosta, 35, of Chennault Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:11a.m. Monday for reckless operation of a moving vehicle, no driver’s license, switched license plate and no insurance.
An officer traveling on Victor II Boulevard observed a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner and took evasive action to avoid a collision with the vehicle. The officer eventually detained the vehicle and its driver in the area of Martin Luther King Drive and Victor II Boulevard. The driver, Acosta, could not provide a valid driver’s license, Banks said. Acosta was jailed.
—Danny R. Robinson, 57, of Hendricks Street in Patterson, was arrested at 2:14 p.m. Monday for driving under suspension.
An officer observed a vehicle being driven in an erratic fashion and stopped the vehicle near Clothilde and Ninth streets. The driver, Robinson, was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. He was jailed.
—Melvin East, 53, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:18 p.m. Monday for theft of goods less than $500.
Officers were dispatched to a La. 182 pharmacy in regards to a shoplifter. Officers located East, who according to management, had attempted to steal a bottle of alcoholic beverage from the business, Banks said. East was arrested and the item recovered. He was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 154 complaints and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Taylor Murphy, 19, of the 100 block of Green Leaf Boulevard in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:08 a.m. Saturday for violation of a protective order.
—Nickolas Grimmett, 33, of the 100 block of South Verret Street in Amelia, was arrested at 9:08 a.m. Saturday for domestic abuse battery.
A deputy responded to a residence on South Verret Street regarding a complaint of a disturbance. The deputy made contact with Grimmett and Murphy. The deputy learned that Grimmett struck a female victim in the face, Hebert said. The deputy also discovered that Murphy violated a protective order against her by having contact with the person named in the court document. Both Murphy and Grimmett were jailed. Grimmett was released on $2,500 bail. Murphy was released on $3,500 bail.
—A juvenile female, 15, of Patterson, was arrested at 8:58 a.m. Friday for ungovernable juvenile. A deputy responded to a complaint of a disturbance at Patterson High School. The deputy learned from school personnel that a juvenile female was refusing to listen to a school administrator. Following the investigation, the juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
—Jaron P. Ourso, 18, of the 100 block of Zifful Court in Houma, was arrested at 10:02 a.m. Friday for driving on divided highways, failure to change driver’s license address within 10 days, possession of Schedule I marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Dylan T. Barrios, 21, of the 2500 block of La. 308 in Labadieville, was arrested at 10:02 a.m. Friday for possession of Schedule I marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A deputy patrolling U.S. 90 in Amelia observed a vehicle drive through the median to turn around. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Ourso, and a passenger, Barrios. While speaking with the two occupants, the deputy smelled the odor of burning marijuana. The deputy received consent to search the vehicle and located marijuana and items of drug paraphernalia, Hebert said. Both were jailed. Ourso was later released on $4,000 bail. Barrios was later released on $3,500 bail.
—Martha Bordelon, 54, of the 300 block of Verdun Lane in Verdunville, was arrested at 10:02 a.m. Friday on a warrant from the justice of the peace on the charge of telephone harassment. A deputy received information indicating that Bordelon wanted to turn herself in on the warrant. The deputy located Bordelon at her residence and released her on a summons to appear in court Aug. 22.
—Alexander Salgado Perez, 41, of the 2400 block of N. Dog River Drive in Mobile, Ala., was arrested at 11:52 p.m. Friday for disturbing the peace intoxicated. A deputy patrolling the Bayou Vista area responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a residence on Saturn Road. The deputy encountered a man coming out of the house holding a baseball bat in an aggressive manner.
The deputy smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on Perez. The deputy learned that Perez was attempting to engage in fights with others at the residence, Hebert said. Perez was jailed with bail set at $500.
—Robert R. McMichael, 22, of the 1300 block of Arbor Circle in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:49 a.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of speeding and failure to honor written promise to appear. A deputy conducting a traffic stop in the Bayou Vista area made contact with a passenger in a vehicle, identified as McMichael, who held an active warrant for his arrest.
McMichael was jailed and released on $334.50 bail.
—Angela McKenna, 45, of the 100 block of Donna Street in Patterson, was arrested at 11:21 a.m. Saturday on a warrant from Mobile County, Ala., Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear for drug court. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area made contact with McKenna and learned of the active warrant for her arrest. McKenna was jailed with no bail set.
—Ronald Winslow, 54, of the 1000 block of Ciro Street in Siracusa, was arrested at 7:06 p.m. Saturday on a warrant from Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear on the charges of trespassing and failure to pay fine. A deputy investigating a complaint of a disturbance on Ciro Street made contact with Winslow and learned of the warrant for his arrest. Winslow was jailed with no bail set.
—Bonnie Dupre, 25, of the 600 block of Arenz Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:29 p.m. Saturday on two warrants for issuing worthless checks. A deputy made contact with Dupre on Mercury Road in Bayou Vista and learned of the active warrants for her arrest. The deputy released Dupre on a summons to appear in court Aug. 22.
—Norma Ramirez, 34, of the 600 block of Clarke Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 2:57 p.m. Sunday for violation of the parish leash law ordinance. A deputy responded to a complaint of a dog that was loose in the street on Clarke Road. The deputy learned that the animal belonged to Ramirez. The deputy released Ramirez on a summons to appear in court Aug. 22.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Nina Butler, 31, of the 1800 block of N Street in Patterson, was arrested at 8:17 p.m. Monday for aggravated battery. Butler was jailed with no bail set yet.
—Betty Jo Butler, 47, of the 800 block of Tall Timbers Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 8:17 p.m. Monday for disturbing the peace by fighting. Butler was released on $250 bail.
—Andrew Glover, 17, of the 100 block of Muggah Street in Patterson, was arrested at 10:35 p.m. Saturday for possession/consumption of alcohol by a person under age 21. Glover was jailed on $500 bail.
—Aaron Payton, 56, of the 1400 block of Hickory Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:09 p.m. Sunday for simple battery involving domestic abuse with medical attention and simple criminal damage to property.
Payton was taken to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville with no bail set.
—Tresh Jones, 41, of the 900 block of Tall Timbers Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 8:08 p.m. Monday for disturbing the peace by fighting. Jones was jailed on $250 bail.
—Mekelia Bourgeois, 38, of the 1700 block of Rosario Street in Patterson, was arrested at 8:08 p.m. Monday for disturbing the peace by fighting. Jones was jailed on $250 bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
