A 34-year-old Morgan City man, identified as a suspect in a Feb. 8 theft from CVS Pharmacy in Morgan City, turned himself in to police Friday, Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Mark Griffin Jr. said in a news release.
Griffin reported the following arrests:
—Peter V. Lund, 34, of Chatsworth Drive in Morgan City, at 10:15 a.m. Friday on a warrant for theft
Lund turned himself in to the Morgan City Police Department and was booked on a warrant charging him with theft of goods from CVS pharmacy in Morgan City on Feb. 8.
Lund was identified with the help of an anonymous tip that assisted investigators in his identification after a surveillance photo was distributed. Lund was accused of committing the theft of several bottles of alcoholic beverages before being confronted by store personnel, Griffin said. He was jailed.
—Jonathan P. Conner, 34, of Apple Street in Morgan City, at 9:57 p.m. Friday on a warrant for no driver’s license and possession of marijuana.
Conner was a passenger in a vehicle stop near Apple and Garber streets. Conner was found to have a warrant, and upon his arrest was found to have marijuana, Griffin said. He was jailed.
—Jasmin Guidry, 24, of Tupelo Street in Morgan City, at 12:13 a.m. Saturday on charges of possession of marijuana, window obstruction and no proof of motor vehicle insurance.
An officer patrolling near Fifth Street and Railroad Avenue observed a vehicle being operated with a large sticker across the front windshield of the vehicle, obstructing the driver’s view, Griffin said. As the officer approached the driver, Guidry, the officer detected an odor of marijuana, Griffin said. Guidry admitted to the officer that she had the substance concealed on her, and the officer recovered the substance, Griffin said. Guidry was jailed.
—Edwin Maldonado, 23, of Amelia, at 2:15 a.m. Saturday on a careless operation charge.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Railroad Avenue and Pecos Street in regards to a vehicle crash. Officers learned that a vehicle driven by Maldonado had struck a parked vehicle then veered into a ditch where it came to rest, Griffin said. Maldonado could not produce a valid driver’s license, Griffin said. He was jailed.
—Kirk G. Hatcher, 28, of Siegen Lane in Baton Rouge, at 3:07 a.m. Saturday on warrants alleging resisting an officer, possession of marijuana and disturbing the peace intoxicated.
Hatcher turned himself in to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked on several outstanding warrants for failure to appear in the City Court of Morgan City on various charges, Griffin said. He was jailed.
—Charles Felton, 33, of Mount Street in Morgan City, at 3:06 a.m. Saturday on charges of speeding and driving under suspension.
A patrolling officer observed a speeding vehicle traveling on Railroad Avenue and stopped the vehicle to investigate. The driver, Felton, was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license, Griffin said. He was jailed and released on cash bail.
—Guadalupe Maldonado, 61, of Plum Street in Patterson, at 8:03 p.m. Saturday on a St. Mary Parish warrant for failure to appear for revocation, improper turning and possession of alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle.
A patrolling officer observed a driver make an improper turn in the area of Fifth Street near Railroad Avenue and stopped the vehicle to investigate, Griffin said. The driver, Maldonado, was found to have an open container of alcoholic beverage in his vehicle, Griffin said. Maldonado was also found to be wanted on outstanding warrants for St. Mary Parish 16th Judicial District Court. He was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Jeffery Jones, 53, of the 1500 block of Cherry Street in Patterson, at 11:56 p.m. Saturday on a charge of remaining where forbidden. Jones was jailed on $217 bail.
—Juan J. Mijes, 27, of the 1800 block of Pasadena Street in Houston, at 5:38 p.m. Sunday on charges of disturbing the peace intoxicated and resisting arrest by flight. Mijes was released on $774 bail.
—Matthew L. Sullins, 27, of the 800 block of Sunny Lane in Cedar Park, Texas, at 5:38 p.m. Sunday on a charge of disturbing the peace intoxicated. Sullins was jailed on $413 bail.
—Janet L. Melancon, 57, of the 2300 block of Wilson Lane in Patterson, at 8:45 p.m. Sunday on a charge of simple battery domestic. No bail is set.
—Tresh Jones, 41, of the 1500 block of Plum Street in Patterson, at 2:15 a.m. Friday for violation of a protective order. No bail is set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
