Arrest reports

Four people were arrested in a drug bust at a residence in Berwick after St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office narcotics detectives found several types of drugs, a stolen vehicle, and a 5-year-old child at the residence, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Richard Merritt, 29, of the 1400 block of Live Oak Street in Patterson, was arrested at 8:49 p.m. Thursday for possession of marijuana third offense, possession of Schedule II codeine, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile.
—Brandon Micah Scott, 26, of the 1300 block of Catherine Street in Patterson, was arrested at 8:49 p.m. Thursday for possession of marijuana third offense, possession of Schedule II codeine, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile.
—Chris Murphy Smith Jr., 26, of the 600 block of Renwick Boulevard in Berwick, was arrested at 8:49 p.m. Thursday for possession of Schedule I marijuana/synthetic cannabinoids third offense, possession of Schedule II codeine, possession of Schedule III Lortab, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Alan Granger, 23, of the 300 block of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:49 p.m. Thursday for possession of marijuana third offense, possession of Schedule II codeine, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile, and possession of stolen things.
Narcotics division detectives, in a joint operation with Berwick police, executed a no knock search warrant at a residence in the 600 block of Renwick Boulevard in Berwick, Hebert said. During the search of the residence, detectives located marijuana, synthetic cannabinoids, liquid codeine, a Lortab pill, and items of drug paraphernalia, Hebert said. Also, detectives located a vehicle in the garage that had been reported stolen from the Amelia area, Hebert said. A 5-year-old child was in the residence at the time of investigation, Hebert said. All four people were jailed. No bail is set.
Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrests:
—Jeremy W. McCullough, 34, of Sixth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:54 p.m. Thursday for possession of Schedule I controlled dangerous substance-heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Amy McCullough, 34, of Sixth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:54 p.m. Thursday for possession of Schedule I controlled dangerous substance-heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, child desertion, no turn signal and no liability insurance.
Detectives patrolling observed a vehicle fail to signal a turn onto Railroad Avenue. The passenger in the vehicle, Jeremy McCullough, was observed attempting to discard an object during questioning and was stopped, Crouch said.
The item was discovered to be heroin. Both Jeremy McCullough, and the driver of the vehicle, Amy McCullough, were also found to possess syringes, spoons and other items of paraphernalia. Officers discovered that Amy McCullough had left two children, ages 9 and 7, at a residence without proper supervision, Crouch said. Both were jailed.
Officers conducted a sweep to enhance security measures and eliminate contraband in the Morgan City Jail. City ordinances prohibit anyone from possessing and using tobacco products in the jail facility. During the operation the following people were charged:
—Calie E. Anslem, 23, of Cottonwood Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:30 p.m. Thursday for smoking prohibited in jail facility and introduction of contraband into penal facility.
Anslem was also found to possess prescribed medication which she had introduced into the lockup area of the jail.
—James Murray, 26, of Arkansas Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:30 p.m. Thursday for smoking/possession of tobacco prohibited in jail facility.
—Kaleb C. Wood, 19, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 7 p.m. Thursday for smoking prohibited in jail.
—Michael Thompson, 19, of Fifth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:30 p.m. Thursday for smoking prohibited in jail.
—Desmond J. Charles, 28, of Oak Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:27 p.m. Thursday for introduction of contraband into jail facility, possession of synthetic marijuana, and smoking prohibited in jail facility.
—Jesus Lezcano, 27, of Duke Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:27 p.m. Thursday for smoking/tobacco in jail facility prohibited, introduction of contraband into jail facility and possession of synthetic marijuana.
—Jarred D. Hope, 23, of Louisa Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:27 p.m. for smoking/tobacco prohibited in jail facility, possession of synthetic marijuana and introduction of contraband into jail facility.
—Blake S. Lambert, 19, of Franklin Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:19 p.m. Thursday for smoking/tobacco prohibited in jail facility. Lambert was arrested on additional charges at 12:15 a.m. today for introduction of contraband into jail facility, possession of synthetic marijuana and smoking/tobacco prohibited in jail facility.
After being jailed, Lambert introduced contraband believed to be synthetic marijuana back into the lockup facility.
—Callie M. Boquet, 31, of Notre Dame in Thibodaux, was arrested at 9:11 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for a probation violation, failure to pay probation fees, and failure to pay fines. Boquet was transported from Lafourche Parish and jailed.
—Dustin Fontenot, 27, of Rider Road in Ville Platte, was arrested at 1:33 p.m. Thursday on a warrant from the Eunice Police Department for driving under suspension.
An officer responding to a complaint of a stalled vehicle on U.S. 90 located the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Fontenot. He was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 40 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Michael J. Gentry, 26, of the 100 block of Honey Lane in Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested at 12:02 p.m. Thursday for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. Gentry was jailed and released on $1,000 bail.
—Tabitha Gross, 36, of the 100 block of Carter Lane in Berwick, was arrested at 3:49 p.m. Thursday for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. The deputy learned from store personnel that Gross was seen placing an item in her purse before leaving the store without paying for the item. Gross was released on a summons to appear in court on April 28.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Kenneth Pauley, 29, of Blum Boulevard in Berwick, was arrested at 10:03 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and a warrant for a probation violation. Pauley is awaiting bail to be set.
—Christian Businelle, 17, of Willow Bend in Patterson, was arrested at 11:38 a.m. Thursday for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegally carrying of weapons and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance. Businelle is awaiting bail to be set.
—Christopher Viscardi, 32, of Robley Drive in Lafayette, was arrested at 11:38 a.m. Thursday for possession of marijuana, possession of Schedule IV clonazepam and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance. Viscardi was released on $9,000 bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Kahnie Gaudet, 43, of the 100 block of Church Street in Patterson, was arrested at 5:30 p.m. Thursday for disturbing the peace. Gaudet was jailed on $193 bail.
