A 33-year-old Morgan City woman was arrested at a residence on Chester Bowles Street after Morgan City police detectives found synthetic marijuana and a juvenile inside, Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch said in a news release.
—Tara L. Loupe, 33, of Chester Bowles Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:07 a.m. today for possession of Schedule I controlled dangerous-synthetic marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, uniformed controlled dangerous substance law within 1,000 feet of a school zone, and illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of persons under the age of 17.
Detectives conducted a search warrant at a residence on Chester Bowles Street, which was based on an investigation into narcotics complaints at that residence. Loupe was located inside the residence and found to be in possession of suspected synthetic marijuana and items of paraphernalia. She was also found to be in the company of a person under the age of 17 years old at the residence, Crouch said. Loupe was jailed. The investigation is continuing and additional charges may follow, Crouch said.
Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrests:
—Charmaine L. Wiggins, 32, of Amelia, was arrested at 12:11 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for distribution of a Schedule III controlled dangerous substance (Narco).
In a continuation of an investigation into the sale of illegal drugs from a La. 182 motel, an arrest warrant was secured for Wiggins. Taffeta Lynch, another person in the investigation was arrested Tuesday after she was found to be in possession of several pills of a Schedule III controlled dangerous substance. Wiggins was jailed.
—Terrance L. Johnson, 30, of Terrebonne Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:20 p.m. Wednesday for disturbing the peace and resisting an officer.
Officers responded to a complaint of a disturbance at the corner of Everett and Fifth streets. Johnson was observed by officers charging at another person in a threatening manner. The officer stepped in and attempted to restrain Johnson who then began to resist and break free from the officer. The officer produced a Taser and ordered the person to lie on the ground, Crouch said. Johnson complied and was taken into custody without incident. He was jailed.
—Jonathan K. Perry, 29, of Morgan City, was arrested at 5:20 p.m. Wednesday for stop sign violation, operating a vehicle with a suspended license, and a warrant for no license plate illumination.
An officer observed a vehicle being driven by a person identified as Perry almost cause an accident on Sixth Street in Morgan City. He was jailed.
—Wesley M. Foster, 41, of Haney Drive in New Orleans, was arrested at 10:41 p.m. Wednesday for driving while intoxicated second offense, improper lane usage, and open container inside a motor vehicle.
An officer observed a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner in the area of Fourth Street and Brashear Avenue. Foster, the driver, failed the field sobriety test and registered .148 grams-percent on the Intoxilyzer 5000 test. Foster was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:
—Kenneth David Green, 40, of the 100 block of Two Sister Court in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 8:05 p.m. Wednesday for possession of Schedule IV (Xanax), possession of Legend Drug (Biaxin) without a prescription, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Narcotics detectives executed a search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of Two Sister Court and located Xanax pills, drug paraphernalia, and a Biaxin pill. Green was jailed with no bail set.
—Karen Artis, 41, was arrested at 10:34 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant for two counts of issuing worthless checks. Artis was released on a summons to appear in court Jan. 31.
—Stephen M. Fournier, 24, of the 5200 block of Bayou Black Drive in Gibson, was arrested at 12:57 p.m. Wednesday on two warrants for issuing worthless checks. A deputy located Fournier at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City on the warrant. He was released on a summons to appear in court Jan. 31.
—Amanda L. Williams, 28, of the 100 block of Shady Grove in Patterson, was arrested at 4:28 p.m. Wednesday for theft of goods at a store in Bayou Vista. Williams was released on a summons to appear in court Jan. 31.
—Kimaya Joseph, 20, of the 400 block of Morris Street in Franklin, was arrested at 7 p.m. Wednesday for theft of goods at a store in Bayou Vista. Joseph was released on a summons to appear in court Jan. 31.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
