A 28-year-old Morgan City woman was arrested Sunday for seventh offense possession of drug paraphernalia after being found with a pipe used to smoke narcotics, Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks said in a news release.
—Joquisha N. Mingo, 28, of Ciro Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:03 a.m. Sunday for possession of drug paraphernalia seventh offense, resisting an officer, possession of Schedule I marijuana and on a warrant for failure to appear for drug paraphernalia.
An officer observed Mingo, who was known to be wanted on a warrant. The officer detained Mingo and placed her under arrest. Mingo began to resist the officer and had to be physically restrained. She was found to be in possession of a pipe commonly used to smoke illegal narcotics as well as suspected marijuana, Banks said. She was jailed.
Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
—Terrell M. Charles, 31, of Franklin Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:50 a.m. Friday for driving under suspension, improper display of plates, on a warrant for a probation violation, a warrant for failure to pay probation fee, a St. Mary Parish warrant for failure to appear for driving under suspension and no insurance.
An officer stopped a vehicle in the area of Brashear Avenue after it was observed to have an improperly displayed license plate. The driver, Charles, was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and was placed under arrest. He was also found to be wanted on several pending warrants for the City Court of Morgan City as well as the Sixteenth Judicial District Court. He was jailed where he remains.
—Gerebee R. Pacheco, 28, of Freret Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:16 p.m. Friday for no seat belt, possession of Schedule I marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and illegal possession of controlled dangerous substance in the presence of people under age 17.
An officer detained the driver of a vehicle after he was observed not to have the proper passenger restraint. The driver, Pacheco, was identified. The officer discovered that Pacheco was in possession of marijuana. It was also learned that Pacheco may possess additional narcotics at his residence. The officers furthered the investigation at Pacheco’s Freret Street residence and recovered additional suspected marijuana. There were also several children located at the residence which were released to relatives. Pacheco was jailed.
—Sylvia B. Cook, 64, of Stephensville, was arrested at 11:23 p.m. Friday for driving while intoxicated and failure to dim headlights.
An officer stopped a vehicle in the area of La. 70 and Fig Street after the driver failed to dim headlights as required. The vehicle was observed being driven in an erratic manner and stopped. The driver, Cook, was found to be in a suspected impaired condition. Cook was jailed and registered .182 grams-percent blood alcohol concentration on the Intoxilyzer 5000 test. She was jailed.
—Stephen Bias, 49, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:46 p.m. Saturday for possession of drug paraphernalia.
An officer received information of people standing on the property at Everett and Fifth streets involved in illegal drug activity. The officer proceeded to investigate and located a person at that location identified as Bias. He was found to be in possession of a pipe commonly used to ingest illegal narcotics. Bias was jailed.
—Robert W. Choate, 57, of Federal Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:10 a.m. Sunday for appearing in an intoxicated condition and simple battery.
An officer observed a male grab another person by the neck in the parking lot of a La. 182 lounge and stopped to investigate. The victim was uninjured, Banks said. Choate was detained and found to be in an intoxicated condition. Choate was jailed.
—Randy C. Babino, 46, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:02 a.m. Sunday on a warrant for unauthorized entry into an inhabited dwelling and a warrant for telephone harassment.
An officer located Babino at his residence located on La. 182 in Morgan City. Based on a complaint filed in March, Babino is accused of entering a residence without permission. Babino was also accused of continually harassing the victim by telephone. He was jailed.
—David J. Holowell, 21, of Park Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:10 p.m. Sunday for possession of Schedule I marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and window tint violation.
An officer stopped a vehicle on La. 182 after the vehicle was observed with improper tint. Holowell was detained and during the stop, the officer became suspicious that Holowell possessed marijuana, a controlled substance. During a search of Holowell’s vehicle, a pipe commonly used to ingest marijuana was located along with suspected marijuana. Holowell was jailed.
—Keyana C. Davis, 17, of Brownell Homes in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:01 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for contempt of court. An officer located Davis at her residence, and she was jailed.
—Lawrence L. Blackburn, 36, of Grace Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:30 p.m. Sunday for operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.
An officer observed a vehicle being driven by Blackburn in the area of Louisiana and Sixth streets. The officer was aware that Blackburn was operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. Blackburn was jailed.
—Ira Thomas, 55, of First Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:31 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for failure to pay a fine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
An officer observed Thomas in the area of Eleventh Street and Railroad Avenue and was aware of an outstanding warrant for the Thomas. Thomas was found to possess a pipe commonly used to smoke illegal narcotics and was subsequently charged. He was jailed.
—Anthony L. Watson, 22, of Garber Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:47 p.m. Sunday for operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and no seat belt.
An officer observed the driver of a vehicle not wearing a seat belt restraint as required and stopped the vehicle to investigate near the intersection of Sixth Street and Brashear Avenue. The driver, Watson, was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. He was jailed.
—Alfonzo A. Alejandre, 37, of Terrebonne Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:38 p.m. Saturday for hit and run driving, possession of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle, no driver’s license, and possession of Schedule II cocaine.
An officer was dispatched to a vehicle crash in the area of the 700 block of Fifth Street. The complainant advised that a person had struck a building with a vehicle and was attempting to leave the scene. Officers located the vehicle as it was fleeing the area and stopped and detained the driver, Alejandre.
He found to be in possession of an open container of alcoholic beverage in his vehicle and had suspected cocaine on him, Banks said. He was jailed.
—Joni Madison, 33, of Third Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:05 p.m. Friday on a warrant for theft more than $500.
Detectives located Madison at a Third Street address and placed her under arrest on outstanding warrants for theft. The warrants were secured by detectives as a result of an investigation which began Feb. 26 into the theft of $1,300 in cash and several other items. Madison was identified as a suspect by detectives in that investigation and a warrant secured for her arrest. She was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 112 complaints and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Drew R. Baugher, 24, of the 100 block of Rizzo Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:11 a.m. Friday on three warrants for failure to appear for a drug court status conference and failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court. A deputy located Baugher at his residence on the warrants. Baugher was jailed with bail set at $300,000.
—Franklin Pearce III, 29, of the 1500 block of U.S. 90 West in Patterson, was arrested at 10:42 a.m. Friday on a warrant for two counts resisting an officer by giving false information. A deputy located Pearce at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City. The warrant stems from two separate incidents of Pearce giving deputies two false addresses. Pearce was jailed and released on $2,000 bail.
—Kaleb Gros, 17, of the 100 block of Sun Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 2:26 p.m. Friday for illegal carrying of weapons and on a warrant for criminal damage to property. A deputy patrolling the Bayou Vista area saw Gros on Saturn Road. The deputy knew Gros to hold an active warrant for his arrest.
During the arrest, the deputy located a handgun concealed on Gros. The warrant stems from a previous incident in which Gros was detained during an investigation. While in the rear of the patrol unit, Gros caused a window of the unit to be out of alignment. Gros was jailed and released on $1,500 bail.
—Ambrose B. Coulliette, 26, of the 100 block of West Harbor Drive in Palatka, Fla., was arrested at 4:42 a.m. Saturday for disturbing the peace and unauthorized entry of a place of business. A deputy responded to a complaint of a suspicious person on the premises of a business on U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista.
Using a description provided by the complainant, a deputy located the person in the area on foot and identified him as Coulliette. Coulliette was positively identified as the person who entered the property without permission. He was jailed and bail set.
—Brian Mcdaniel, 44, of the 800 block of Memory Lane in Tylertown, Miss., was arrested at 1:01 p.m. Saturday for stop sign violation and possession of drug paraphernalia. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on La. 182 for a stop sign violation. The deputy received consent to search the vehicle and located items of drug paraphernalia. Mcdaniel was released on a summons to appear in court June 12.
—A juvenile male, 14, of Franklin, was arrested at 12:56 p.m. Saturday for theft of goods and resisting an officer. A deputy responded to a complaint of a person shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista.
The juvenile was detained and positively identified as the shoplifter. The juvenile was seen placing items in shopping bags and then leaving the store without paying for the goods. The items were recovered from a dumpster. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
—Katherine Sistrunk, 53, of the 200 block of Ricohoc Drive in Centerville, was arrested at 9:16 p.m. Sunday for violation of the parish leash law. A deputy investigating an animal complaint on Ricohoc Drive learned that Sistrunk’s dog ran out of a residence and attacked a neighbor’s dog. Sistrunk was released on a summons to appear in court June 12.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Lakisha L. Butler, 29, of the 100 block of Judy Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 9:52 p.m. Friday for simple criminal damage less than $500 and criminal trespass. Butler was released on a $1,500 preset bail.
—Edwain R. Rodriguez, 37, of the 100 block of Village Lane in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:26 a.m. Sunday for speeding 70 mph in a 55 mph zone, open container and driving while intoxicated. Rodriguez was jailed with no bail set at this time.
—Wilian H. Gonzalez, 29, of the 1600 block of Buron Street in Houma, was arrested at 9:30 p.m. Sunday for DWI and allowing an unlicensed person to drive. Gonzalez was jailed with no bail set at this time.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Stephen Taylor, 30, of Berwick, was arrested Friday on a traffic warrant for direct contempt of court and following too closely.
—Jonathon Howell, 19, of Franklin, was arrested Friday on a warrant for theft more than $500.
—Shelia Barros, 48, of Morgan City, was arrested Friday on a taxi driver’s permit required and speeding 60 mph in a 45 mph zone.
—Juan Hernandez, 27, of Morgan City, was arrested Friday for speeding 67 mph in a 35 mph zone and no driver’s license. All four were released.
