A 41-year-old Morgan City man was arrested Friday after he was found to possess identification that had been changed to hide his sex offender status, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Eddie Brown IV, 41, of the 1300 block of Joseph Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:03 p.m. Friday for failure to register and notify as a sex offender or child predator. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area conducted a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle on La. 182.
The deputy made contact with the driver of the vehicle identified as Brown. The deputy learned that Brown did not possess a driver’s license and that the identification in Brown’s possession had been altered to hide his sex offender status. Brown was jailed, Hebert said. He was also cited for the traffic offenses. Brown was later released on $10,000 bail.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 127 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—John Walsh, 33, of the 100 block of Cremo Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 4:27 p.m. Friday on three warrants for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court. A deputy investigating a complaint of a suspicious person made contact with Walsh at a shopping center off U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista and learned of the warrants for his arrest. Walsh was jailed with no bail set.
—Frankie Tarver II, 24, of the 3500 block of Francis Street in Berwick, was arrested at 1:35 a.m. Saturday on two warrants for issuing worthless checks. A deputy received information from Morgan City police that Tarver had been stopped and he was wanted on active warrants through the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office. A deputy made contact with Tarver. He was released on a summons to appear in court July 11.
—Brandon Hatch, 19, of the 100 block of Lincoln Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 11:17 a.m. Saturday for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. The deputy learned from store personnel that Hatch was seen concealing items on him. Hatch then attempted to leave the store without paying for the goods. Hatch was released on a summons to appear in court July 11.
—Terry M. Menard, 54, of the 100 block of Shannon Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:43 a.m. Sunday for simple battery. A deputy responded to a complaint of a battery at a residence on Shannon Street in Patterson. The deputy learned that Menard grabbed a male victim scratching him on the arms. Menard was jailed and released on $500 bail.
—Tanner Beglau, 26, of the 1200 block of Catherine Street in Patterson, was arrested at 6:50 p.m. Sunday for possession of Schedule II methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of failure to use a seatbelt. A deputy responded to a report of possible illegal drug use by an employee of a company on La. 182 in Bayou Vista. The deputy made contact with Beglau and learned of the active warrant for his arrest. During a search of Beglau, the deputy located a glass pipe and a crystalline substance identified as methamphetamine. Beglau was jailed with no bail set.
Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
—Cierra L. Smith, 21, of Patterson, was arrested at 11:40 p.m. Friday for two headlights required, improper license plate illumination, operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license, switched license plate, no registration, no liability insurance, possession of marijuana third offense and flight from an officer.
—Gabrielle R. Derouen, 19, of Franklin, was arrested at 11:40 p.m. Friday for possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Dwayne Paul Robertson, 21, of Jeanerette, was arrested at 11:27 p.m. Friday for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of Schedule I marijuana.
An officer observed a vehicle traveling on La. 182 with improper lighting and attempted to stop the vehicle to investigate. The driver of the vehicle proceeded to stop, then pulled away and left the scene, Banks said. Officers stopped the vehicle near the intersection of Justa Street and La. 182. The driver, Smith, was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and possession of marijuana. A passenger, Robertson, was found to possess drug paraphernalia and suspected marijuana. A third passenger, Derouen, was found to possess items of drug paraphernalia. All three were jailed.
—Jerald Francois, 23, of Everett Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:18 a.m. Saturday on a warrant for simple battery of a juvenile
Officers located Francois at the intersection of Sixth Street and Brashear Avenue and jailed.
—Destiny A. Dinger, 25, of Louisa Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:23 p.m. Saturday for cultivation of marijuana and illegal possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of people under age 17.
Officers were dispatched to a Louisa Street residence in regard to illegal narcotics activity. Officers discovered several small plants of suspected marijuana being grown and cultivated inside the residence. During the investigation, the owner of the residence, Destiny Dinger, was located and identified as the owner of the items. The items, which were located inside the residence, were in proximity to a small child located inside the residence. Dinger was jailed.
—Tammy S. Fitch, 53, of Kidd Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:51 p.m. Friday for theft by shoplifting — value $4.04.
—Laketra M. Mitchell, 34, of Joseph Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:51 p.m. Friday for theft by shoplifting — value $4.04.
Officers were dispatched to a La. 182 pharmacy in regards to a two people who were observed shoplifting. Officers located Mitchell and Fitch who were accused of taking cigarettes from the store without paying for the items. Both were jailed.
—Jeffrey D. Fields, 47, of Patton St. in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:28 p.m. Friday for no license plate illumination and driving under suspension.
An officer observed a vehicle with improper lighting and stopped the vehicle to investigate at the intersection of Roderick Street and Railroad Avenue. The driver, Fields, was jailed.
—Lectoria M. Grogan, 25, of Duke Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:13 a.m. Saturday on a warrant for contempt of court.
An officer investigating a complaint came into contact with Grogan near the intersection of Shannon and Terrebonne streets. Grogan was jailed.
—Ameedah Kenner, 29, of Idaho Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:28 p.m. Saturday on a 16th Judicial District Court warrant for theft less than $500.
Kenner was located at the intersection of Idaho and Duke streets and jailed.
—Luis Sanchez, 29, of Barrow Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:48 a.m. Sunday for no driver’s license.
An officer detained a vehicle in the area of the 200 block of Brashear Avenue and identified the driver as Sanchez. Sanchez was jailed.
—Christopher H. Gough, 42, of Morgan City, was arrested at 9:26 p.m. Sunday for appearing intoxicated in public.
An officer observed someone staggering in the area of La. 182 and stopped the person to investigate. Gough was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Christopher Adams Jr., 33, of the 1100 block of Francis Street in Patterson, was arrested at 7:13 p.m. Friday for disturbing the peace. Adams was released on $237 bail.
—Katie L. Adams, 29, of the 1100 block of Francis Street in Patterson, was arrested at 7:13 p.m. Friday for disturbing the peace and on a Terrebonne Parish warrant. Adams was jailed on $237 bail.
—Renata J. Harris, 31, of the 1200 block of South Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:47 p.m. Saturday for driving under suspension, speeding 43 mph in a 35 mph zone and resisting an officer by failing to comply. Harris was jailed on $686 bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Abdulla Alzaher, 24, of Theater Street in Lafayette, was arrested at 1 a.m. Sunday for disturbing the peace. Alzaher was released on $150 bail.
St. Martin Parish Sheriff Ronnie Theriot reported the following arrest:
—Nicole Dronet, 31, of Bayou Vista, was arrested for failure to appear and issuance of an arrest warrant.
