A man and woman were arrested Monday after detectives found heroin and counterfeit crystal meth inside a Morgan City motel room, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Kenneth Kiff Jr., 28, of the 1000 block of Red Cypress Road in Patterson, was arrested at 2:29 p.m. Monday for possession of heroin, possession of a counterfeit controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Jessica Pearce, 26, of the 800 block of Levee Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:04 p.m. Monday for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Narcotics detectives received information about illegal drug activity taking place at a motel located on La. 182 in Morgan City, Hebert said. Detectives made contact with Kiff, who was believed to be involved in the illegal activity, and located heroin, a bag of counterfeit crystal methamphetamine and a glass pipe used to smoke methamphetamine on him, Hebert said. Kiff was jailed with no bail set.
Continuing the investigation, detectives also made contact with Pearce and located a syringe in her purse. Detectives determined that the syringe was used to inject methamphetamine. Pearce was released on a summons to appear in court April 7.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 51 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—James M. Haydel, 28, of the 200 block of Jamie Court in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:54 p.m. Monday on warrants from Assumption Parish for simple assault and from Terrebonne Parish for failure to appear on the charge of failure to use safety belt.
A deputy made contact with Haydel at a location on La. 182 Frontage Road in Amelia and learned of the active warrants for his arrest. Haydel was jailed with no bail set.
—Shunta Jones, 19, of the 500 block of Saturn Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 6:26 p.m. Monday for criminal damage to property. A deputy responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence on Saturn Road. The deputy learned that Jones damaged the side view mirrors of the victim’s vehicle during an argument with another person, Hebert said. The deputy released Jones on a summons to appear in court April 7.
—A juvenile male, 16, of Berwick, was arrested at 3:06 p.m. Monday for possession of Schedule I marijuana. Narcotics detectives received information from a concerned citizen regarding marijuana being located at a bus stop on Pharr Street in Berwick.
Detectives went to the area and located a bag of marijuana on a tree branch. Detectives collected the illegal drug as evidence and replaced it with fake marijuana, Hebert said. Detectives then conducted surveillance and observed a juvenile retrieving the decoy drug, Hebert said. Following the investigation, the juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Mark Griffin Jr. reported the following arrests:
—Curtis R. Robinson, 42, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:23 a.m. Monday for disturbing the peace intoxicated.
Officers received a complaint of a disturbance at Fifth and Duke streets and located Robinson in what appeared to be an intoxicated and impaired condition. He was accused of yelling profanities in the area creating the disturbance, Griffin said. He was jailed.
—Ruben Bias, 60, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:26 a.m. Monday on a warrant for aggravated assault.
Bias turned himself in to detectives with the Morgan City Police Department and was arrested on an outstanding warrant stemming from a Dec. 21, 2014, reported incident in which Bias is accused of threatening another person with a weapon, Griffin said. Bias was jailed.
—Michael J. Bouton, 46, of Lafayette, was arrested at 2:03 p.m. Monday for operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license second offense.
Officers responded to U.S. 90 in regards to a vehicle being driven erratic and reckless. Officers located the vehicle in question and stopped to investigate. The driver, Bouton, was discovered to be operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. He was jailed.
—Javien J. Francis, 17, of Oregon Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:30 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to pay a fine.
Francis was located at the Berwick Police Department and placed under arrest on an outstanding warrant for the Morgan City Police Department. He was jailed.
—Zachary M. Crappell, 21, of First Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:21 p.m. Monday on a warrant for discharging a firearm in the city limits.
Crappell turned himself in to the Morgan City Police Department and was booked on an outstanding warrant charging him with discharging a firearm within the city limits on Jan. 7, Griffin said. Crappell reportedly discharged a firearm in the air near Pecan Street in Morgan City, Griffin said. He was jailed.
—Kellie S. Boudreaux, 31, of Patterson, was arrested at 8:08 p.m. Saturday on a St. Mary Parish warrant for two counts of failure to comply with the drug court program.
Boudreaux was located at a Victor II Boulevard lounge and placed under arrest on outstanding warrants for failing to comply with terms of drug court program. She was jailed.
—Leonard A. Yarborough, 52, of Fourth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 6:22 p.m. Friday for theft of goods (value $15.38).
Officers were dispatched to a La. 182 convenience store in regards to a shoplifter. Yarborough was located inside the store and accused of committing the theft of goods valued at $15.38. Yarborough was located by officers in the area and the items recovered. He was jailed.
—Amanda Free, 35, of Berwick, was arrested at 1:20 a.m. Sunday on a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for issuing worthless checks.
An officer conducting a traffic stop near La. 182 in Berwick located and arrested Free on outstanding warrants for the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Department. She was jailed and released after posting cash bail.
—Ralph B. Redditt Jr., 54, of Morgan City, was arrested at 2:11 p.m. Sunday on warrants for probation violation and failure to appear for disturbing the peace intoxicated.
Redditt was located at a South Railroad Avenue residence after officers were dispatched to the location for an intoxicated subject. Redditt was jailed.
—Telegia M. Busby, 48, of Fifth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:20 p.m. Sunday for appearing in public intoxicated.
Officers were dispatched to a La. 182 convenience store regarding an intoxicated person. Officers located Busby in an impaired condition, and according to witnesses, Busby was observed knocking over merchandise in the store due to her condition, Griffin said. She was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Joseph A. Pfalzgraf, 34, of the 5600 block of La. 14 in New Iberia, was arrested at 1:48 a.m. Saturday for speeding 72 mph in a 55 mph zone, driving under suspension, no insurance on vehicle and driving while intoxicated third offense. He was jailed with no bail set.
—Raekwon Pitts, 17, of the 400 block of Como Street in Patterson, was arrested at 8:38 a.m. Saturday for six counts of stop sign violations, driving left of center, violation of general speed law, no driver’s license and resisting an officer by aggravated flight. Pitts was jailed with no bail set.
—Luis E. Valadez-Luevano, 18, of the 200 block of South Railroad Avenue in Patterson, was arrested at 8:27 p.m. Saturday for no driver’s license and possession of marijuana first offense. He was released on $2,250 bail.
—Rickey Comeaux Jr., 30, of the 400 block of Charlotte Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 11:56 p.m. Saturday for simple battery involving domestic violence. Comeaux was jailed with no bail set.
—Travis Johnson, 39, of the 700 block of Utah Street in Berwick, was arrested at 1:24 a.m. today for aggravated flight with vehicle, resisting an officer by flight, two counts of stop sign violation and driving under suspension. Johnson was jailed with no bail set.
—Robert Parker, 33, of the 2600 block of Fourth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 1:24 a.m. today for resisting an officer by flight and on a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant. Parker was jailed on $1,000 bail.
—Lenessa S. Stroud, 27, of the 700 block of Kem Street in Patterson, was arrested at 1:44 a.m. today for possession of marijuana first offense. Stroud was jailed on $1,000 bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Ronald Armond, 42, of Muriel Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:55 a.m. Sunday for possession of hydrocodone and disturbing the peace. Armond was awaiting bail to be set.
