Arrests reports

A 29-year-old Bayou Vista man was caught Wednesday after he was accused Monday of punching a woman in the face and strangling her, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
Hebert reported responding to 29 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Burkin Dupre, 29, of the 1500 block of Cross Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 4:13 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for domestic abuse battery by strangulation and aggravated assault. Dupre was also charged with four counts of issuing worthless checks.
The warrant stems from a disturbance reported to the sheriff’s office Monday that occurred in Bayou Vista, Hebert said. Deputies learned that Dupre struck a woman in the face with a closed fist and placed his hands around her throat to choke her, Hebert said. The battery occurred in the presence of a child, the sheriff said. Dupre was jailed with no bail set.
—George Carret III, 56, of the 100 block of Rene Street in Pierre Part, was arrested at 2:30 a.m. today on charges of careless operation of a vehicle and driving while intoxicated. A deputy assigned to patrol the Amelia area conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after the driver committed a traffic infraction, Hebert said.
The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Carret, and detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on him, Hebert said. Carret submitted to a standardized field sobriety test and later to a chemical test for intoxication, the sheriff said. Carret produced a breath sample of .186 grams-percent blood alcohol concentration, Hebert said. He was jailed with no bail set.
—Shauna Hurts, 34, of the 600 block of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family. A deputy assigned to the warrants division learned of Hurts’ active warrant and later located her at a residence in Patterson. Hurst was jailed with bail set at $500.
Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Mark Griffin Jr. reported the following arrests:
—David D. Taylor, 58, of Fort Worth, Texas, was arrested at 9:32 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant for theft under $750 and on an East Baton Rouge Parish warrant for forgery.
Detectives began an investigation of a theft of a cell phone from the Mr. Charlie Rig in Morgan City, Griffin said. During the investigation, Taylor was named as a suspect, Griffin said. Detectives located Taylor on Youngs Road, and he was jailed.
—Andrew Rodriguez, 29, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:39 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to pay a fine for domestic abuse battery and possession of Scheduled II methamphetamine.
Morgan City police were dispatched to a disturbance at an apartment complex on La. 182. When officers arrived, they located Rodriguez and another person. Officers did a local warrants check on both individuals and determined that Rodriguez held an outstanding warrant, Griffin said. While placing Rodriguez under arrest, officers located suspected methamphetamine on him, Griffin said. Rodriguez was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Sean C. Cole, 24, of the 4700 block of Pardue Road in Ball, was arrested at 2:26 a.m. Wednesday for suspended driver’s license and two headlights required. Cole was jailed on $509 bail.
—Belinda G. Steger, 36, of the 5800 block of La. 182 West in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:11 a.m. today for speeding 81 mph in a 55 mph zone, no driver’s license and driving while intoxicated. Steger was jailed with no bail set yet.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
