A 41-year-old Morgan City man was charged Tuesday with an additional count of forgery after having been arrested July 28 on eight counts of forgery for cashing forged checks at multiple businesses in the parish, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Myron Hatch Jr., 41, of the 1800 block of Federal Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:02 a.m. Tuesday with a warrant for forgery. The warrant stems from an investigation into a complaint of stolen checks received in June.
The detective developed information that Hatch forged a check and cashed it at a check cashing business in Bayou Vista, Hebert said. Hatch was already incarcerated at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center at the time the warrant was served. No bail is set.
On July 28, Hatch was arrested on a warrant for eight counts of forgery. A detective developed information that Hatch forged the checks and cashed them at several businesses in the area, Hebert said.
Hebert reported responding to 42 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrest in east St. Mary Parish:
—Rickey J. Foret Jr., 35, of the 100 block of Dianna Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 10:36 p.m. Tuesday for disturbing the peace intoxicated. A deputy responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a residence on Dianna Lane.
The deputy made contact with Foret, who admitted that he had been drinking alcoholic beverages. The deputy also learned that Foret was banging on the door of a neighbor’s home, Hebert said. Foret was jailed with bail set at $500.
Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
—Doresa M. Bland, 24, of Cypress Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday for simple battery.
Officers responded to a domestic complaint at a Cypress Street residence. Bland is accused of striking a man in the chest. Bland was jailed.
—Joseph P. Percle, 27, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 8 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for a probation violation. Percle, who was incarcerated in the Morgan City Jail, was booked on a warrant for probation violation from the Sixth Ward Court of Morgan City. Percle remains in jail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Kedesha Scott, 20, of the 400 block of Seventh Street in Franklin, was arrested at 6:52 p.m. Tuesday for criminal mischief. Scott was released on $327 bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
