A 32-year-old Morgan City man was charged this morning in connection of an armed robbery at a Morgan City lounge during which the man was accused of threatening to shoot a witness who attempted to follow him, Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks said in a news release.
—Bryant W. Francois, 32, of Everett Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:16 a.m. today for two counts of armed robbery.
The Morgan City Police Department received a complaint of an armed robbery which was reported at Cajun Country Lounge located on Victor II Boulevard. Officers were provided a description by witnesses and advised that the suspect had threatened to shoot a witness as the witness attempted to follow the suspect, Banks said. Officers set up a perimeter in the area.
Officers located a suspect, identified as Francois, in the area who was positively identified by victims as the suspect in the robbery. During the investigation, officers recovered the weapon and the items taken, Banks said.
According to witnesses and victim, Francois entered the lounge and produced a handgun during the robbery, Banks said. He was also accused of a robbery and theft of a bystander in the lounge as well and additionally charged, the chief said. Francois was jailed with no bail set yet.
Banks reported the following arrests:
—Jacob Breaux, 37, of La. 70 in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:57 p.m. Tuesday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and improper lane usage.
An officer observed a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner on Front Street and stopped the vehicle after it was observed to cross the center line several times. The driver, Breaux, was identified and, according to reports, appeared to be impaired. Breaux was given a field sobriety test, which he failed, Banks said.
He was jailed where he submitted to an Intoxilyzer 5000 test, which indicated a blood alcohol concentration of .162 grams-percent.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 34 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrest in east St. Mary Parish:
—Sterling Scully, 51, of the 3400 block of Lake Palourde Road in Amelia, was arrested at 8:44 p.m. Tuesday for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and transactions involving drug proceeds.
Narcotics detectives conducted a search warrant at the above listed address. During the search of the residence, detectives located bags of marijuana with an estimated street value of about $4,000, a bag of cocaine, several bags of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of approximately $900, digital scales, baggies and $1,234 in cash, Hebert said. Scully was jailed with no bail set.
Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire reported the following arrest:
—Earl Perro, 33, of Cleveland Street in Patterson, was arrested at 12:10 a.m. today on a July 4, 2013, incident for simple battery. Perro was released on $500 bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
