A 71-year-old Morgan City man was arrested Tuesday by St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies on a Lafourche Parish warrant from April 2013 for home invasion stemming from an incident where the man is accused of forcing his way into the home of an ex-girlfriend, Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Brennan Matherne said in a news release.
—Robert Bergeron, 71, of the 3000 block of Diane Drive in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:17 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant from Lafourche Parish for home invasion. Bergeron turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City. Bail is set at $10,000.
At about 5:20 p.m. April 15, 2013, Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a disturbance at a Thibodaux trailer park, Matherne said.
Upon arrival, deputies learned Bergeron knocked on the door of a residence looking for a woman he had once dated, Matherne said. When a child answered the door, Bergeron allegedly pushed the child and forced his way into the residence without permission, Matherne said. He proceeded to make his way through the home looking for the woman, Matherne said.
The child’s mother told him to leave, but he tried to push past her to search the rest of the home for the other woman, Matherne said. Bergeron eventually fled the residence on foot. Deputies attempted to make contact with Bergeron, but were unable to do so at that time and issued a warrant for his arrest, Matherne said. Bergeron has bail set at $10,000.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 46 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Taylor R. Brown, 19, of the 400 block of Mike Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 2:29 p.m. Tuesday for misdemeanor carnal knowledge of a juvenile. During an investigation by Juvenile Division detectives, Brown admitted to having sex with a 15-year-old female at a residence in Bayou Vista, Hebert said. Brown was jailed with no bail set.
—Crystal Clark Hart, 30, of the 200 block of Jones Street in Berwick, was arrested at 3:27 p.m. Tuesday on warrants for simple assault and disturbing the peace, probation violation, failure to appear on the charges of driving under suspension, expired inspection sticker, no proof of insurance and failure to appear on the charge of theft of goods. Hart turned herself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin. No bail is set.
—Chantal Ruffin, 25, of the 1400 block of James Street in Siracusaville, was arrested at 7:13 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of improper turning and operating a vehicle with a suspended license. A deputy patrolling the Siracusaville area made contact with Ruffin and learned of the active warrant for her arrest. Ruffin was jailed with no bail set.
—Phi Duval, 30, of the 1600 block of Mayon Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:26 p.m. Tuesday for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of Schedule I synthetic cannabinoids.
—Giang Duval, 33, of the 200 block of Wren Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:26 p.m. Tuesday for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of Schedule I synthetic cannabinoids.
Narcotics detectives patrolling the Morgan City area observed a vehicle fail to properly signal a turn and conducted a traffic stop on Terrebonne Street. Detectives made contact with the driver, Giang Duval, and passenger, Phi Duval, who both appeared impaired, Hebert said.
Detectives also observed a smoking pipe inside the vehicle, the sheriff said. During the subsequent investigation, detectives received consent to search the vehicle and located cigar wraps and a partially burnt synthetic cannabinoid cigarette along with the pipe, Hebert said. Both were released on summons to appear in court Jan. 26.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Russell Blanchard, 27, of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 9:05 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for simple battery. The warrant stems from an Oct. 15 incident in which a female victim went to Blanchard’s home to retrieve her belongings and he threw a plastic tote at her, striking her elbow, Richard said. Blanchard was released on $250 bail.
Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
