A 43-year-old Morgan City man was charged with aggravated battery in connection with a September incident inside the parish jail where the man was accused of striking another inmate in the face with a jail telephone receiver, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Bobby Seeley, 43, of Morgan City, was additionally charged with aggravated battery at 11:36 a.m. Monday. A detective conducted an investigation into a complaint of a battery that occurred at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in September.
While housed in a dorm, Seeley struck another inmate in the face with the receiver of a jail telephone, Hebert said. The victim sustained a small laceration to the face and was treated by medical staff for the injury following the incident, the sheriff said. Seely remains incarcerated.
Hebert reported responding to 28 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Kevin Williams, 23, of the 100 block of Aristle Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:17 a.m. Monday for theft. A deputy responded to a report of a theft of a weed eater from a residence on Lake Palourde Road in Amelia. The suspect in the crime, later identified as Williams, fled from the residence on foot.
Workers in a nearby parking lot assisted the responding deputy in apprehending Williams. Williams was positively identified as the person who took the weed eater. Following the investigation, Williams was jailed and released on a summons to appear in court Jan. 26. The stolen property was recovered and returned to the owner.
—Whitney Klein, 50, of the 100 block of Cypress Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 8:02 p.m. Monday for reckless operation of a vehicle and possession of a legend drug without a prescription.
A deputy responded to a request for assistance with traffic stop conducted by Patterson police on La. 182 in the Patterson area for reckless driving. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Klein. The deputy observed Klein to be unsteady on her feet, Hebert said.
Klein’s speech was also slurred, the sheriff said. During the investigation, the deputy received consent to search the vehicle and located a bottle of prescription drugs that did not belong to Klein. She was jailed with no bail set.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Jeremy Arclis, 35, of the 400 block of Williams Street in Patterson, was arrested at 10:13 p.m. Monday for simple battery-domestic violence. Arclis was jailed with no bail set.
—Tony Sauseda, 53, of the 200 block of Kates Way in Hutto, Texas, was arrested at 12:33 a.m. today for speeding 73 mph in a 55 mph zone, no proof of insurance, driving while intoxicated by refusal. Sauseda was jailed with no bail set.
Morgan City Police Michael Banks reported no arrests.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
