A 50-year-old Bayou Vista man was charged with incest Wednesday after a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office investigation, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Roy A. East, 50, of the 100 block of Lagonda Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 2:35 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for incest. During an investigation into a complaint received Wednesday, a detective learned that East had sexual intercourse with a family member.
Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Traci Landry said in an email that the office will not be releasing any additional details due to the nature and circumstances of the crime. East was jailed with bail set.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 42 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Dantrell Garrett, 25, of Morgan City, was additionally charged with two counts battery of a correctional facility employee at 6:47 p.m. Wednesday. Jailers at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center responded to a disturbance that was being caused in a dorm by Garrett. As the deputies removed Garrett from the dorm, the inmate hit the deputies with his hand. Garrett remains incarcerated.
—Jimmy Billiot, 41, of the 800 block of Degravelle Road in Amelia, was arrested at 9:22 p.m. Wednesday for simple criminal damage to property more than $500 and simple criminal damage to property less than $500. A deputy responded to a complaint of a person cutting the tires of vehicles parked at a business on La. 182 in Amelia.
The deputy issued a bulletin including descriptions of the man and the vehicle in which he left the scene. Police located the vehicle on Roderick Street and detained the person who was identified as Billiot. The deputy positively identified Billiot as the person who cut the tires of two vehicles, Hebert said. Billiot was jailed with no bail set.
Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
—Darren Hemphill, 46, of Morgan City, was arrested at 9:32 a.m. Wednesday for disturbing the peace.
Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Belanger Street in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers spoke to witnesses and they advised that Hemphill was screaming and waving a knife around. Officers made contact with Hemphill and he advised officers that he was upset with another man, Hebert said. Hemphill was jailed.
—Shunta Jones, 19, of Morgan City, was arrested at 3:17 p.m. Wednesday for simple battery.
—Passion Harris, 18, of Morgan City, was arrested at 3:17 p.m. Wednesday for simple battery.
Police were dispatched to the area of Orange Street in reference to a disturbance. While being dispatched to the area, police were given a description of a vehicle that was involved. Officers located the vehicle on Acorn Street. During the investigation, officers learned that Jones and Harris went to a residence on Orange Street where they committed a battery on a female. Jones and Harris were jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
