Arrests reports

A 37-year-old Bayou Vista man was charged this morning with hit and run and driving while intoxicated after striking a guardrail in Bayou Vista and leaving the scene, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Abel Ortiz, 37, of the 300 block of David Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 1:42 a.m. today for hit and run driving, driving while intoxicated, open container of alcohol and no driver’s license.
A deputy responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on David and Middle roads. The deputy located a vehicle that came to a stop on the curb after striking a guardrail. The driver was not at the scene of the crash. The deputy located the driver, identified as Ortiz, at his residence, Hebert said.
While speaking with Ortiz, the deputy smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, Hebert said. The deputy administered a field sobriety test. Ortiz conducted the test poorly. He later registered 0.169 grams-percent blood alcohol concentration on a breath test. Ortiz was jailed with no bail set.
Hebert reported responding to 31 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Kaveshia Johnson, 17, of the 600 block of Grove Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:16 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of aggravated second degree battery. A deputy located Johnson at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin on the warrant. Johnson was jailed with no bail set.
—Jerell Jones, 23, of the 600 block of Red Cypress Road in Patterson, was arrested at 5:24 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for probation violation. Jones was located at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin on the warrant. Jones was jailed with no bail set.
Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
—Keenze Howard, 49, of Morgan City, was arrested at 8:55 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for probation violation.
Howard turned himself in to the Morgan City Police for an outstanding warrant held for him. He was jailed.
—Tina Ordoyne, 35, of Morgan City, was arrested at 12:24 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to pay fines for Houma City Court.
Police were dispatched to a residence on Fourth Street in regard to a disturbance. When officers arrived, it was learned that Ordoyne had an outstanding warrant for the Houma Police Department. She was transported to the Morgan City Police Department.
—Richard Giroir, 54, of Morgan City, was arrested at 2:03 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for theft of goods.
Giroir turned himself in on a warrant alleging that on Oct. 4, he committed a theft at a local drug store. Video footage from the store was used to identify Girior, Banks said. Giroir was jailed.
—Taj Broussard, 18, of Lafayette, was arrested at 2:16 p.m. Thursday on warrants for failure to appear to pay fines and failure to appear for resisting an officer.
Broussard was arrested by the Lafayette Sheriff’s Office for outstanding warrants held for the Morgan City Police Department. Broussard was transported back to the Morgan City Police Department and jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Marvin Ellis, 29, of Kem Street in Patterson, was arrested at 4:17 p.m. Thursday for possession of Schedule II oxycodone and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance. Ellis was jailed and is awaiting bail to be set.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
