Berwick man charged with sexual battery on girl

A 31-year-old Berwick man was charged Wednesday with sexual battery on a teenage girl, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Kenneth Pauley, 31, of the 400 block of Blum Boulevard in Berwick, was arrested at 4 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging him with sexual battery.
After receiving a complaint Feb. 5 of a possible molestation of a juvenile, a detective gathered evidence indicating that Pauley touched a teen-age girl in a sexual manner while at a location in the Patterson area, Hebert said.
Pauley came to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City in reference to the investigation and was subsequently taken into custody on the warrant. No bail is set.
Hebert reported responding to 43 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Renee Watts, 38, of the 200 block of Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday on the charges of violation of a stop sign and no proof of insurance. A deputy observed a vehicle fail to come to a complete stop at a stop sign on Southeast Boulevard and conducted a traffic stop. While speaking with the driver, Watts, the deputy discovered that she had no insurance on the vehicle. Watts was released on a summons to appear in court May 4.
—Justin P. Crews, 34, of the 800 block of Two Brothers Street in Amelia, was arrested at 10:43 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of driving under suspension.
—Frankie G. Clark, 32, of the 100 block of Friendship Alley in Amelia, was arrested at 10:44 p.m. Wednesday on six warrants for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of the drug court treatment program.
While patrolling Amelia, a deputy observed a vehicle pulling onto Duhon Boulevard from a parish pumping station which is private property, Hebert said. The deputy stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Crews, and a passenger, Clark.
While speaking with the subjects, the deputy learned that Crews was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and that Clark was wanted on several active warrants. Crews was released on a summons to appear in court May 4. Clark was jailed with bail set at $600,000.
—Miguel Webb, 17, of the 1000 block of Grace Street in Siracusaville, was arrested at 4:27 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of possession of Schedule I drugs.
—Kurwin Webb, 22, of the 1000 block of Grace Street in Siracusaville, was arrested at 4:27 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of possession of Schedule I drugs.
—Ire Minor, 49, of the 1000 block of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:27 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of possession of Schedule I drugs.
—Lantrell Ayers, 25, of the 200 block of Headland Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:27 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of possession of Schedule I drugs.
A deputy observed a vehicle with a severely damaged windshield obstructing the driver’s view. As the vehicle turned onto Grizzaffi Street in Morgan City, the deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Miguel Webb, and three passengers, Kurwin Webb, Minor, and Ayers.
While speaking with the subjects, the deputy smelled the odor of marijuana from the vehicle. The deputy contacted the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit who indicated that there were illegal drugs in the vehicle.
During a search of the SUV, deputies located several marijuana cigarettes. Miguel Webb was also cited for view through windshield obscured and no driver’s license on him. Miguel Webb, Minor and Ayers were released on summonses to appear in court May 4. Kurwin Webb was jailed with no bail set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Valinda Otis, 34, of New Iberia, was arrested at 5:52 a.m. Friday on the charge of driving under suspension. Otis was re-leased on $1,000 bond.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Carlven Chapman, 39, of Louisiana Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:49 p.m. Monday on charges of attempted home invasion and resisting an officer.
Officers responded to an address on St. Clair Street in regard to a subject at the residence making threats. Officers arrived and saw Chapman, who was known to the officers, standing in front of one of the windows to the residence.
Upon seeing the officers, Chapman fled the area on foot. A foot chase ensued and officers lost sight of Chapman. A description was provided to the responding officer when Chapman was observed getting into the passenger seat of a vehicle and attempting to leave the area.
Officers stopped the vehicle, at which time Chapman was located and arrested. The victim told officers that Chapman had called the victim and had threatened the victim, Blair said.
Chapman arrived at the victim’s home and had at-tempted to enter the residence through the front door, but was unable to do so, Blair said. Chapman then went to the side of the residence where he attempted to open a window.
Reports indicate that while doing so, Chapman had threatened to burn down the residence, Blair said. Chapman was jailed.
—Randy L. Hatcher, 37, of Fourth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 1:52 a.m. Tuesday on the charges of three counts of aggravated assault, disturbing the peace and resisting an officer.
Officers responded to a local business on Barrow Street in regard to a subject causing a disturbance and needing to be removed. The officers arrived and located Hatcher standing in front of the business. The management, along with witnesses, told the officers that Hatcher had entered the business when he began shouting and using profane language.
Hatcher then produced a knife and threatened to kill several of the people inside, Blair said.
The officers then retrieved a knife located on Hatcher, which was the knife believed to be involved in the incident. Hatcher was then placed under arrest when he began fighting with officers, Blair said. After a short struggle, Hatcher was taken into custody and jailed.
—Bryson Johnlewis, 20, of Peach Street in Jeanerette, was arrested at 7:06 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of improper brake lights, no driver’s license, switched license plate and no child restraint.
A patrolling officer ob-served a vehicle in the area of Martin Luther King Boulevard near Allison Street with improper brake lighting and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was identified as Johnlewis, who did not have a driver’s license and the license plate displayed belonged to another vehicle.
The officer observed a 3-year-old child in the back seat with no child restraint. Johnlewis was jailed.
—Drew L. Landry, 20, of Delmar Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of resisting an officer and appearing in public in an intoxicated condition.
Officers responded to a local business on La. 182 in regard to a disturbance. Responding officers were provided with a description of one of the subjects involved who had left the area. Moments later, officers located Landry, who fit the description of the person involved. Landry began running from officers and a foot chase ensued.
Landry was captured moments later and arrested. Officers believed Landry had been drinking and appeared to be intoxicated. Landry was jailed.
—Jordan P. Streva, 20, of Oak Harbor Drive in Stephensville, was arrested at 7:54 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of entering or remaining where forbidden.
An officer investigated an incident at a local business on La. 182. The officer told Streva to leave the business and not return. Streva left the area without incident.
Later that same evening, the officer observed Streva back inside the business, Blair said. Streva was jailed.
—Barbara A. Cook, 34, of 12th Street in Thibodaux, was arrested at 12:51 a.m. Wednesday on the charge of disturbing the peace by fighting and aggravated assault.
Officers responded to an address on Bush Street in regard to a report of a fight. The officers were told by the victim and witness that Cook had gone to the home on Bush Street where she and the victim were involved in a fight.
After the fight, Cook got into a vehicle and nearly struck the victim as she was leaving the area, Blair said. Cook was located by officers in the area moments later and jailed.
—Christopher Singleton, 40, of Ramos Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:56 a.m. Wednesday on the charge of possession of marijuana third offense and violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance law.
—Terrell Poole, 25, of Ra-mos Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:03 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of speeding and on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Samantha Poole, 42, of Filmore Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:56 a.m. Wednesday on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Detectives, along with the assistance of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence on Filmore Street.
Singleton, Samantha Poole and Terrell Poole were occupants located inside the home. During the search, investigators located suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
A warrants check revealed that the Sixth Ward Morgan City Court held an active arrest warrant for Terrell Poole. Singleton, Terrell Poole and Samantha Poole were all jailed.
—Thompson R. Cox Jr., 65, of Baton Rouge, was arrested at 2:12 a.m. Saturday on a charge of appearing in public in an intoxicated condition.
Officers responded to the area of Railroad Avenue at First Street in regard to an intoxicated subject causing a disturbance on a passenger train traveling through Morgan City. The officers spoke with the train conductor who told officers there was an intoxicated passenger on board that was causing a disturbance.
The conductor told the intoxicated passenger to calm down but he refused to do so. The officer then made contact with the passenger, Cox, and officers believed he had been drinking and appeared to be intoxicated, Blair said. Cox was jailed.
—Antoinette O. Davis, 37, of Roderick Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:40 a.m. Saturday on warrants for theft value over $750 and failure to appear for civil court.
Davis was located on On-stead Street near Federal Avenue where she was arrested on active warrants held by the Sixth Ward Morgan City Court. Davis was transported to the Morgan City Police Department Jail where she was booked and incarcerated.
—Bradley S. Williams, 26, of New Iberia, was arrested at 4:47 p.m. Saturday on the charges of probation violation.
Williams, who was already incarcerated in the Morgan City Jail, was booked on an active warrant obtained by the Sixth Ward Morgan City Court for probation violation. Williams was booked on the warrant and remains jailed.
—Gabrieo C. Boulanger, 26, of Sixth Street in Patter-son, was arrested at 9:38 p.m. Saturday on the charges of improper lane usage, driving under suspension, and no vehicle insurance.
A patrolling officer ob-served a vehicle crossing the fog line on U.S. 90 several times. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver identified as Boulanger. A driver’s license check revealed that Boulanger had a suspended license and that the vehicle did not have proof of insurance. Boulanger was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and jailed.
—Alyssa Ashmore, 26, of Third Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:39 p.m. Saturday on the charges of disturbing the peace intoxicated, simple battery, and possession of diazepam.
Officers responded to a local business in regard to an intoxicated female causing a disturbance. The officers arrived and were told by management and witnesses that Ashmore was inside the business causing a disturbance, being irate and struck one of the patrons.
The officers made contact with Ashmore, who was believed to have been drinking and appeared to be intoxicated.
Ashmore was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking. While booking, suspected diazepam was located on her. She was jailed.
—Calvillo S. Garcia, 22, of Louisa Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:39 a.m. Sunday on the charges of driving while intoxicated, no driver’s license, and careless operation of a motor vehicle.
An officer responded to a vehicle crash at the intersection of Levee Road and Sixth Street. During the investigation, the driver of one of the vehicles involved was identified as Garcia. According to reports, Garcia did not have a valid driver’s license. Garcia was believed to have been drinking and appeared intoxicated. Garcia was transported to the Morgan City Police Department and submitted to the Intoxilyzer 5000 test, yielding a blood alcohol concentration of 0.168 grams percent. Garcia was jailed.
—Jovon E. Johnson, 22, of Lafayette, was arrested at 5:25 p.m. Sunday on a war-rant for failure to appear for possession of marijuana and charges for possession of marijuana and obstruction of justice.
Johnson was located on Railroad Avenue near Fourth Street where he was arrested on an active warrant held by the 16th Judicial District Court. Johnson was transported to the Morgan City Police Department Jail for booking where Johnson attempted to place suspected marijuana inside his mouth, Blair said. Officers retrieved the suspected marijuana and Johnson was jailed.
—Bennie A. Charles, 31, of North Third Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:44 p.m. Sunday on the charges of driving under suspension, no seatbelt, and warrants for failure to appear to pay probation fee and probation violation.
A patrolling officer ob-served a vehicle traveling on Veterans Boulevard and the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Charles. A warrants and driver’s license check was conducted, which revealed that Charles had a suspended license and that the Sixth Ward Morgan City Court held an active warrant for him. Charles was jailed.
—Darren W. Watson, 51, of Lloyd Lane in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:58 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for failure to appear for speeding. Watson was located on Amber Street where he was arrested on an active warrant held by the Sixth Ward Morgan City Court. Watson was jailed.
—Nakeisa Walker, 36, of Domino Street in Patterson, was arrested at 3:04 p.m. Tuesday on warrants charging her with failure to appear for probation fee, probation violation and failure to appear for contempt of court.
Walker was turned over to the Morgan City Police Department by a local bail bond service in regard to active arrest warrants held by the Sixth Ward Morgan City Court. Walker was jailed.
—Devante D. Frank, 23, of Aucoin Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday for failure to appear on the charge of simple battery and failure to appear for criminal damage to property.
Officers located Frank at an address on Bush Street where she was arrested on active arrest warrants held by the Sixth Ward Morgan City Court. Frank was jailed.
—Ciara V. Williams, 27, of Third Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:59 p.m. Wednesday on two warrants for failure to appear for contempt of court, failure to appear for resisting an officer, failure to appear for driving under suspension, probation violation and a 16th Judicial District Court warrant for failure to appear on the charge of resisting an officer.
Williams was turned over to the Morgan City Police Department by a bail bond service in regard to active arrest warrants held by the Sixth Ward Morgan City Court and 16th Judicial District Court. Williams was jailed.
—Annabel M. Garza, 21, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of marijuana second offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A patrolling officer ob-served a vehicle on Ditch Avenue with improper tail lighting and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was identified as Garza, whose behavior made officers’ suspicious that she may be involved in illegal drug activity.
A search of the vehicle was conducted and suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia was located. Garza was jailed.
—Tressa Z. Womack, 33, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:40 a.m. today on a warrant for criminal damage to property, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of uniform con-trolled dangerous substance law and illegal use of a con-trolled dangerous substance in the presence of people under 17 years old.
Narcotics detectives executed a search warrant at a home on Egle Street. Investigators located Womack and a child less than 2 years old inside the home. A search of the residence was conducted and investigators located suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
The location of the incident was within a local federal housing area in violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance laws. Womack was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Walter Howard, 29, of the 500 block of Williams Street in Patterson, was arrested at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of simple burglary and criminal damage to property. Howard was jailed with no bail set yet.
—Jordan Gant, 26, of the 400 block of Railroad Avenue in Patterson, was arrested at 5:07 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging him with simple battery involving domestic abuse.
