Bicyclist struck by truck, dies

A 28-year-old man, Tyrone Celestine, riding a bicycle on La. 99 in Breaux Bridge was struck by a truck near La. 328 at about 11:30 p.m. Friday, Louisiana State Police Troop I troopers report.
Celestine, of Breaux Bridge, was traveling in the eastbound lane when he was struck from behind by a 1999 Dodge truck driven by Lawrence Sam, 52, of Breaux Bridge, police said.
At impact, Celestine was thrown from the bicycle and received serious injuries, police.  Celestine was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.  Celestine was not wearing a helmet when the crash occurred, police said.  Sam was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. 
Police said Sam was suspected to be impaired and was given a chemical breath test.  Sam’s results were over the legal limit and he was subsequently arrested, police said.
 Toxicology samples were taken from Celestine and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis, police.
