Robert J. Gussman Jr.

City man on ‘Most Wanted’ list arrested

A 42-year-old Morgan City man wanted for theft of utilities and theft more than $500, who had been featured in The Daily Review’s Most Wanted series, was arrested Saturday and threatened to kill an officer involved in his arrest, Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch said in a news release.
Robert J. Gussman Jr., 42, of Bush Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:24 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for theft of utilities, a warrant for theft more than $500, a warrant for failure to pay a probation fee, a warrant for failure to pay fines, a warrant for a probation violation, resisting an officer by flight, and threatening a public official.
Officers were dispatched to an Arenz Street address regarding Gussman.
He was wanted by Morgan City police on warrants for a felony theft warrant dating back to April, which involved the theft of a boat motor lower unit, Crouch said.
The officers arrived and located Gussman hiding in the bathroom of the residence. Gussman escaped from the residence and began to flee from the officers, Crouch said. The officers chased Gussman through the area near General Hodges Street and eventually cornered and captured Gussman hiding under a residence, Crouch said.
Gussman continued to resist officers in his attempt to escape and was eventually subdued with the use of a Taser, Crouch said. He was taken to the Police Department office where he continued his behavior, threatening to kill the officer involved in his capture, Crouch said.
Gussman was jailed.
The Daily Review’s November Most Wanted edition will be in Friday’s newspaper.
