Head-on crash claims the life of a Morgan City woman
A Morgan City woman died in a two-vehicle wreck on La. 6662 in Assumption Parish shortly after 9:30 a.m. Friday, according to Louisiana State Police Troop C troopers.
A 2003 Ford F-150 driving by Tasha Massoletti, 22, of Morgan City, was traveling north on La. 662 around mile post 3 in Bayou L’Ourse, police said.
For unknown reasons, the F-150 traveled off the right side of La. 662. , police said. The driver over-corrected to the left and caused the vehicle to cross the center line of La. 662, police said.
At the same time, a 2004 Mack Truck was traveling south on La. 662. The two vehicles struck head-on in the southbound lane of La. 662, police said. The Mack Truck was being driven by Carlos Gonzales, 43, of Welsh.
Massoletti, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead on the scene by an Assumption Parish Coroner’s Office representative. Gonzales, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured in the crash, police said.
Alcohol use is unknown at this time and routine toxicology tests are pending for Massoletti, police said. Gonzales submitted to a breath test and was cleared of any alcohol involvement, police said. This crash remains under investigation.
