Luling man booked on assault, drug charges

A 35-year-old Luling man was jailed today on aggravated assault and domestic abuse charges for allegedly striking a woman in the face and choking her in Siracusa, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Dorian Kennedy, 35, of the 700 block of Mallard Road in Luling, was arrested at 12:49 a.m. today on the charges of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and violation of the uniform controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone), and on warrants for domestic abuse battery by strangulation and aggravated assault contempt of court in Lafourche Parish.
A deputy located Kennedy at a business in Morgan City. During a search of Kennedy, the deputy located a cellophane baggie containing marijuana. The drugs were located within 2,000 feet of a school. The warrant for domestic abuse and aggravated assault stems from a Jan. 19 investigation into a report of domestic abuse that occurred at a residence in Siracusa.
Deputies collected evidence indicating that Kennedy struck a female victim in the face and grabbed the victim by the throat choking her. Kennedy was booked into parish jail with no bail set.
A deputy with the warrants division located Williams at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin on the warrant and transported him to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
Hebert reported responding to 106 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Schuyler Williams, 24, of the 1700 block of Harry D. Street in Patterson, at 10:11 a.m. Friday on a warrant for failure to maintain a special identification card as a sex offender.
Williams was convicted of carnal knowledge of a juvenile in 2014 in St. Mary Parish. A detective of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Compliance Division conducted a compliance check found that Williams failed to renew his ID card.
—Ivy Hebert Jr., 22, of Samuel Street in Franklin, at 3:13 p.m. Friday on warrants for failure to appear on the charges of expired motor vehicle inspection and improper lane usage, for failure to appear on the charges of possession of methamphetamine, illegal use, possession or control of weapons — crime of violence or controlled dangerous substance, possession of hydrocodone, possession of clonazepam, possession/distribution/sale of legend drug without a prescription, and possession of amphetamine and for failure to appear on the charges possession of methamphetamine, illegal use/possession/control of weapons — crime of violence or controlled dangerous substance, possession of hydrocodone, possession of clonazepam, possession, distribution or sale of legend drug without a prescription and possession of amphetamine.
A bounty hunter turned Hebert in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on bond forfeiture. During booking, the correctional officer located the active warrants for his arrest. No bail is set.
—Daniel Scully, 41, of the 600 block of Belanger Street in Morgan City, at 7:25 p.m. Friday on the charges of disturbing the peace intoxicated and criminal trespass.
A deputy patrolling Bayou Vista, observed a man walking through yards in the Sunset Street neighborhood and into the back yard of a home on Bergeron Street. The deputy made contact with the man, identified as Scully, and smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. Scully was booked into parish jail and released on a summons to appear in court May 4.
—David J. Ray, 21, of the 100 block of North Bay Road in Pierre Part, at 12:02 a.m. Saturday on the charge of reckless operation of a vehicle. A deputy patrolling Bayou Vista observed a vehicle accelerate out of a parking lot onto La. 182 causing the tires of the vehicle to lose traction.
The deputy observed the driver peel out a second time from La. 182 onto Universe Road and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver, Ray, and following the traffic stop investigation released him on a summons to appear in court May 4.
—Joel Bullock Jr., 49, of the 100 block of Elaine Street in Morgan City, at 1:47 a.m. Saturday on the charge of disturbing the peace by fighting.
—Shenna Hebert, 31, of the 100 block of Ryne Court in Morgan City, at 1:47 a.m. Saturday on the charge of disturbing the peace by fighting.
A deputy responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a bar in Amelia. The deputy collected evidence indicating that Bullock and Hebert engaged in a fist fight inside the business. Both suspects were booked into parish jail and released on summons to appear in court May 4.
—Leslie Matthews, 41, of the 100 block of Friendship Alley in Amelia, at 6:56 a.m. Saturday on four warrants for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of probation. A deputy patrolling Amelia made contact with Matthews and located the active warrants for his arrest. Matthews was jailed with no bail set.
—Leigh M. Welch, 35, of the 3600 block of Kaliste Saloom Road in Lafayette, at 8:05 p.m. Saturday on the charges of driving while intoxicated, speeding and improper lane usage. A deputy traveling on U.S. 90 in the Patterson area observed a vehicle speeding 77 mph in a posted 65 mph zone.
The deputy also observed the vehicle swerving from lane to lane and off the roadway. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Welch. The deputy smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath and conducted a field sobriety test on which Welch performed poorly. Welch later registered a 0.163 grams-percent blood alcohol concentration on a breath test. Welch was jailed with no bail set.
—Juan Santiago, 34, of the 1400 block of Acadian Drive in Houma, at 3:55 a.m. today on the charges of speeding, unlawful production, manufacturing, distribution, or possession of fraudulent documents, possession of Schedule II cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and no driver’s license.
A deputy traveling U.S. 90 in the Berwick area observed a vehicle speeding 70 mph in a posted 55 mph zone and conducted a traffic stop near Universe Road. The deputy made contact with the driver, Santiago, who produced a fake identification card.
Also, during the traffic stop investigation, the deputy located a scale inside the vehicle with a white powdery substance on it. The substance tested positive for cocaine. Santiago was jailed with no bail set.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Zacharieth Lopez, 26, of Catherine Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:45 p.m. Friday on the charges of possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance laws
—Elizabeth R. Toups, 31, of Catherine Street in Morgan City, at 3:44 p.m. Friday on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Alix R. Adams, 23, of Levee Road in Morgan City, at 3:44 p.m. Friday on the charges of possession of synthetic marijuana with the intent to distribute and violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance laws.
—Frank M. Adams, 25, of Levee Road in Morgan City, at 3:44 p.m. Friday on the charges of possession of synthetic marijuana with the intent to distribute and violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance laws.
The Morgan City Police Department received a complaint of illegal drug activity going on at a residence on Catherine Street. An investigation was conducted by investigators with the Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Unit and a search warrant of the residence was obtained.
Morgan City police detectives along with assistance of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office narcotics unit executed the search warrant when investigators located Lopez, Toups, Alix Adams and Frank Adams inside the residence. A search of the residence was conducted when investigators located suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, synthetic marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside the residence.
The location of the incident was within the area of a local elementary school in violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance laws. Lopez, Toups, Alix Adams and Frank Adams were jailed.
—Jose M. Martinez Morales, 40, of Franklin Street in Morgan City, at 10:29 p.m. Friday on the charges of no headlights, no driver’s license, resisting an officer and simple criminal damage to property.
A patrolling officer ob-served a vehicle traveling in the area of Federal Avenue near Terrebonne Street with no headlights and conducted a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle, Morales, got out of the vehicle and began running from the officer.
A foot chase ensued when Morales jumped a fence of a nearby residence damaging the fence. Officers later located Morales and arrested him. Morales didn’t have a valid driver’s license. He was jailed.
—Miguel A. Galeas, 26, of Brashear Avenue in Morgan City, at 3 a.m. Saturday on the charges of improper lane usage, no driver’s license second offense and possession of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle.
—Rudalfo Garcia, 43, of Odile Lane in Amelia, at 3 a.m. Saturday on the charges of resisting an officer by giving false information and possession of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle.
A patrolling officer ob-served a vehicle in the area of La. 182 near Cottonwood Street traveling out of its lane of travel and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was identified as Galeas, and the passenger, who at first gave officers a false name, was later identified as Garcia.
Officers observed several open containers of alcohol inside the vehicle. Galeas also did not have a valid driver’s license. Both Galeas and Garcia were jailed.
—Schyler A. Stelly, 22, of Gen. MacArthur Street in Morgan City, at 2:15 p.m. Saturday on a warrant charging him with simple battery.
Stelly came to the Morgan City Police Department to visit an inmate incarcerated in the Morgan City jail. A warrants check revealed he had an active warrant for his arrest. Stelly was jailed.
—Thomas J. Drawbaugh, 35, of Bush Street in Morgan City, at 5:44 p.m. Saturday on the charge of domestic abuse battery in the presence of a juvenile.
Officers were dispatched to an address on Louisa Street in regards to a call of a domestic disturbance. They located Drawbaugh at the home, and identified him as one of the subjects involve in the disturbance. Officers spoke with the victim who had signs of a battery along with a witness to the incident who told officers that Drawbaugh had committed a battery on the victim while the victim held a child under 1 year old. Drawbaugh was jailed.
—Jesse L. Comeaux, 22, of Levee Road in Morgan City, at 7:15 p.m. Saturday on the charges of engaging in a fistic encounter and appearing in public in an intoxicated condition.
—Efrain M. Zavala, 24, of Levee Road in Morgan City, at 7:18 p.m. Saturday on the charges of engaging in a fistic encounter and appearing in public in an intoxicated condition.
Officers were dispatched to an address on Levee Road in regards to a call of a fight. Officers located Comeaux and Zavala, who both showed signs of being involved in an altercation. Officers spoke with witnesses in the area who identified both Comeaux and Zavala as being the subjects involved in the fight. Comeaux and Zavala appeared to be intoxicated and were both jailed.
—Jamie L Weatherford, 30, of Slarie Lane in Grosse Tete, at 9:23 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to appear to pay probation fee.
Weatherford was located by officers in the area of St. Claire Street near First Street where she was arrested on an active warrant held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Weatherford was jailed.
—Francisco Trujillo-Alarcon, 27, of Vicksburg, Mississippi, at 9:29 a.m. Sunday on the charge of appearing in public in an intoxicated condition.
Officers responded to a business on Victor II Boulevard in regards to a call of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot. Officers located the described vehicle when they observed a subject inside who appeared to be sleeping. Officers made contact with the subject who was identified as Trujillo-Alarcon, who appeared to be intoxicated. Trujillo-Alarcon was jailed.
—Peter Grogan, 37, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, at 10:21 a.m. Sunday on a warrant charging him with theft less than $750.
Officers located Grogan at an address on Railroad Avenue where he was arrested on an active warrant. Grogan was jailed.
—Juaune Stelly, 27, of Gen. MacArthur Street in Morgan City, at 12:30 p.m. Sunday on a warrant charging her with simple battery. Stelly turned herself in to the Morgan City Police Department on the warrant and was jailed.
—Laquisha Young, 22, of Oriole Street in Morgan City, at 12:54 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of marijuana. Young turned herself in to the Morgan City Police Department and was jailed.
—Alisa Marshall, 37, of Duke Street in Morgan City, at 5:59 p.m. Sunday on a warrant charging her with violation of a protective order. Officers located Marshall at a home on Duke Street where she was arrested. Marshall was jailed.
—Aketa R. Francis, 23, of Egle Street in Morgan City, at 8:17 p.m. Sunday on the charges of entering or remaining after being forbid-den, disturbing the peace and battery on a police officer.
—George Harvey, 34, of Egle Street in Morgan City, at 8:19 p.m. Sunday on the charge of entering or remaining after being forbidden.
Officers responded to an address on Egle Street in regards to two subjects on the property who had been previously banned. Officers located Harvey and Francis.
Francis began yelling at officers using profane language. Both Harvey and Francis were placed under arrest at which time Francis committed a battery on one of the officers. Harvey and Francis were jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Alesha K. MacCardle, 32, of the 400 block of Windsong Drive in Youngsville, at 11:14 a.m. Friday on the charge of possession of Schedule II methamphetamine. Mac-Cardle was released on $2,500 bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Louis Campo, 22, of Elaine Street in Morgan City, at 6:01 p.m. Friday on the charge of possession of marijuana. Campo posted $2,000 bail.
—Richard Ford, 59, of Utah Street in Berwick, at 7 p.m. Friday on the charge of disturbing the peace by alarming the public. Ford posted $175 bail.
—Mardonio Francisco-Lagunes, 39, of Victor II Boulevard in Morgan City, at 12:53 a.m. Saturday on the charges of turn movements and signal required, no driver’s license and no proof of insurance. He posted $375 bail.
