Man accused of inflicting burns

A 30-year-old Bayou Vista man was arrested Wednesday after being accused of putting a cigarette out on a woman’s face, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Antonio Collins Jr., 30, of the 100 block of Pluto Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 11:41 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of second degree battery. Deputies responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence in Bayou Vista.
Upon arrival, a deputy made contact with Collins.
Through the subsequent investigation, the deputy learned that Collins put out a cigarette on a female victim’s face.
The deputy observed a burn mark on the victim. Collins was jailed no bail set.
Hebert reported responding to 34 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Chance M. Landry, 25, of the 100 block of Pond Drive in Morgan City, on March 19, 2015 at 5:39 a.m. on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of alprazolam with intent to distribute and distribution of alprazolam. Landry was turned in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center by a bondsman.
During the booking process, a deputy located the active warrant for his arrest.
Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Mark Griffin Jr. reported the following arrests:
—Marjarie Ruffin, 24, of Franklin, at 10:24 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant for contempt of court on the charge of failure to pay probation fees.
Ruffin, who was already incarcerated in the Morgan City jail, was booked on warrants for the Sixth Ward Court of Morgan City for failing to pay probation fees. Ruffin remains incarcerated.
—Randall Lejeune, 53, of Southeast Boulevard in Morgan City, at 11:44 a.m. Wednesday on the charge of theft of goods-value $51.90.
Lejeune was arrested after store employees followed him after he was suspected of taking items from a La. 182 grocery store. Lejeune was observed pulling a pack of steaks from his pants.
After Lejeune was observed with the item, he was confronted by a store employee.
Lejeune attempted to run after being confronted but was detained until police arrived.
Officers recovered two packs of steaks valued at $51.90. During the investigation of the theft, Lejeune admitted to taking the steaks.
—Cedric Griffin, 33, of Park Road in Patterson, at 3:01 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of domestic abuse battery, possession of marijuana third offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Griffin was arrested after officers responded to a Brashear Avenue motel due to a reported disturbance.
Officers located Griffin who was questioned along with his girlfriend about the disturbance.
Officers were able to review the video from the motel, which showed Griffin pushing his girlfriend.
Officers noticed a suspected marijuana grinder on the table of the room, police said. Located inside the grinder were several hand rolled cigarettes suspected to contain marijuana, to which Griffin admitted was his, police said. Griffin was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Travis Griffin, 27, of the 1800 block of N Street in Patterson, at 10:23 p.m. Wednesday on warrants for another jurisdiction.
Griffin was jailed with no bail set.
—Cody Pearson, 28, of the 1800 block of Rose Street in Patterson, at 11:27 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of simple battery involving domestic with attention and criminal damage to property. Pearson was jailed with no bail set.
—Melvin Washington, 65, of the 100 block of 3 B’s Lane in Bayou Vista, at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of marijuana, possession of Schedule II with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule II without a prescription and resisting arrest without force. Washington was jailed with no bail set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
