Man booked on drug charges after complaint

An 18-year-old Morgan City man was arrested on drug charges Tuesday after police responded to a report of possible illegal drug activity at an Orange Street home, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Charles A. Watts Jr., 18, of Willow Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:46 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile and violation of uniform controlled dangerous sub-stance laws.
Officers responded to an address on Orange Street in regard to a call of loud music and possible illegal drug activity at the residence. The officers made contact with several people inside the residence, and one was a juvenile. Officers searched the home and located suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Watts, identified as one of the occupants inside the home, told officers the suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia belonged to him.
The location of the incident was within the area of a drug-free zone in violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance laws. Watts was jailed.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Nyjul T. Hillebrandt, 19, of Chestnut Drive in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:18 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant for probation violation.
Officers located Hillebrandt in the area of Florida Alley near Barrow Street where he was arrested on an active arrest warrant held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Hillebrandt was jailed.
—Victoria L. Stephens, 23, of Glenwood Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:08 a.m. today on the charges of DWI, no tail lights and no driver’s license.
A patrolling officer ob-served a vehicle traveling in the area of La. 182 near Aycock Street without any tail lights and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, Stephens, did not have a valid driver’s license. Stephens appeared to be intoxicated.
Stephens submitted to the Intoxilyzer 5000 test, yielding a blood alcohol concentration of 0.191 grams-percent. Stephens was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 43 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Terrell E. Poole, 25, of the 1000 block of Ramos Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:01 a.m. Tuesday on the charges of speeding in a school zone, no insurance and driving under suspension. A deputy monitoring school zone traffic on Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and conducted a traffic stop.
The deputy made contact with Poole, the driver of the vehicle, and discovered that his license was listed as suspended. The deputy also found that Poole was driving without insurance. Poole was released on a summons to appear in court May 27.
—Charles R. Esprit, 30, of the 100 block of Freeman Street in Patterson, was arrested at 2:21 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of possession of Schedule I drugs and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt, improper driving in the left hand lane of a multi-lane highway, and failure to honor written promise to appear.
A deputy dispatched to a report of a two vehicle crash on U.S. 90 in the Patterson area made contact with both drivers, one of whom was identified as Esprit.
The deputy located the active warrant for his arrest. During the arrest, the deputy located a small bag containing marijuana. Esprit was booked into the parish jail and released on $2,350 bail.
—Glynn Guidry Jr., 35, of the 700 block of Carline Street in Berwick, was arrested at 5:05 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of driving while intoxicated, ignoring a stop sign, flight from an officer, and hit and run driving. Guidry was brought to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center by a Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries agent on the warrant. Bail is set at $1,000.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Cory Terwilliger, 26, of the 19000 block of Shaw Road in Saucier, Mississippi, was arrested at 9:35 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of driving under suspension and tail lamps required. He was released on bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
