Man booked on firearm possession, dangerous substance warrants

A 25-year-old Houston man was booked into Morgan City jail Tuesday on warrants for having a firearm as a convicted felon and a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Jamarius Palmer, 25, of Marisol Drive in Houston, was arrested at 9:05 a.m. Tuesday on warrants charging him with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile.
Palmer was transported from the St. Mary Parish jail to the Morgan City Police Department on warrants. The warrants were obtained from an investigation into an Aug. 16 incident where Palmer, a convicted felon, was alleged to possess a firearm and a controlled dangerous substance while in the presence of a juvenile. Palmer was jailed.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Johnny Deberry, 60, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of appearing intoxi-cated in public, a warrant charging him with contempt of court, a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and on the charge of resisting an officer by giving false information.
Officers located Deberry on Fourth Street near Greenwood Street where he was arrested on several 6th Ward Morgan City Court warrants. Deberry initially gave officers a false name. Deberry was jailed.
—Bryan Bradford, 28, of Florida Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:48 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of theft of goods.
An officer responded to a grocery store on La. 70 in regard to a reported theft. The officer spoke with store management and was told that Bradford, an employee of the store, was confronted about stealing items from within the store.
Police found evidence of the alleged theft, which included numerous items being recovered and returned to the store, valued at $220.39. Bradford was jailed.
—Dillion P. Burgess, 22, of First Street in Patterson, was arrested at 4:17 a.m. today on the charges of possession of marijuana, possession of alprazolam, violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance laws and on a Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant.
An officer responded to a convenience store on La. 182 in regard to a suspicious person who appeared to be intoxicated. The officer located Burgess, who matched the description provided, in a parked vehicle.
The officer spoke with Burgess, who appeared to be under the influence of narcotics. Burgess’ behavior made police suspicious that he may be involved in illegal narcotics activity.
Police searched the vehicle and located suspected alprazolam and marijuana. The location of the incident was within the area of a pre-school in violation of uniform controlled dangerous sub-stance laws. Burgess was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 31 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Cody Groves, 35, of Cremo Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 3:51 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal trespassing. A deputy located Groves at his home on the warrant. He was booked into parish jail and later released on $750 bail.
—Shawn Boudreaux, 37, of Martin Road in Verdunville, was arrested at 4:48 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for parole violation. A deputy located Boudreaux at his home on the warrant and transported him to parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
—Samuel Lacoste, 38, of Natalie Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 7:03 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of hit and run driving and careless operation of a motor vehicle. During booking at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center, a correctional officer located the warrant for his arrest. Bail is set at $1,500.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Brian Delaune Jr., 31, of Joey Street in Patterson, was arrested at 2:07 a.m. today on a state police warrant charging him with two counts of monetary instrument abuse. No bail is set.
The warrant stems from a July incident where Delaune tried to pass two counterfeit $20 bills at Amelia Belle Casino, State Police Troop I Spokesman Brooks David said.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
