Man charged with assault after argument

A 30-year-old Morgan City man was charged Tuesday after being accused of picking up a knife while arguing with another man, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Toreum S. Poole, 30, of the 1200 block of James Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:10 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of aggravated battery. Deputies responded to a 911 call of a stabbing at a residence in Siracusa. During the investigation, deputies learned that Poole and the male victim were arguing when Poole picked up a knife, the sheriff said. After seeing Poole pick up the knife, the victim also grabbed the knife, causing a laceration to his hand, Hebert said. Poole was jailed with no bail set.
Hebert reported responding to 27 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrest in east St. Mary Parish:
—Joseph L. Gary, 29, of the 200 block of Henry Street in Patterson, was arrested at 11:52 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of Schedule I marijuana with intent to distribute, possession, distribution and sale of a legend drug without a prescription and introducing or possessing contraband in any municipal or parish prison or jail and on a warrant for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court. Deputies located Gary at his residence on the warrant. No bail is set.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrest:
—Antonio M. Campbell, 27, of Canary Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:56 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of driving under suspension and failure to signal.
A patrol officer in the area of Sixth Street and Brashear Avenue observed a vehicle fail to use a turn signal, Blair said. A vehicle stop was conducted. A computer check determined that Campbell’s driver’s license was under suspension. Campbell was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
