Man charged with battery, resisting deputy

A 34-year-old Siracusa man was booked on two battery charges and for resisting a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy who responded to a disturbance at a home in Siracusa, Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Vintrell J. Boyd, 34, of Grace Street in Siracusa, was arrested at 12:58 a.m. today on the charges of simple battery, resisting an officer, possession of marijuana and domestic abuse battery in the presence of a juvenile.
Deputies responded to a report of a disturbance at a home in Siracusa. Upon entered the home, deputies observed Boyd grab and pull a woman’s hair. Boyd refused to comply with a deputy’s order to release the victim.
Several children were in the home at the time of the battery. Boyd then resisted deputies as they detained him. While searching Boyd for weapons, deputies located a small amount of marijuana in his pocket. Deputies attempted to speak with Boyd, however, his speech was unintelligible.
As the investigation continued, deputies collected evidence that Boyd was also involved in an altercation with a male victim. Boyd was transported to Teche Regional Medical Center. Upon his release, Boyd was jailed with no bail set.
Hebert reported responding to 41 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Trent H. Duhon, 21, of Ricohoc Drive in Ricohoc, was arrested at 9:18 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt, speeding, and failure to honor written promise to appear and three warrants for failure to appear on the charges of failure to appear for a drug court status conference and failure to comply with the terms and conditions of the drug court.
A deputy located Duhon at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin and transported him to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $300,380.
—Trey Jones, 34, of Ciro Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:21 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear for an interview at the Office of the District Attorney and two warrants for failure to appear on the charges of criminal neglect of family. During booking at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center, a correctional officer located the active warrants for Jones’ arrest. No bail is set.
