Men jailed for cocaine, hydrocodone

Two Morgan City men were arrested Saturday morning after officers found hydrocodone pills and crack cocaine inside a vehicle during a traffic stop, Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks said in a news release.
—Christopher D. Woods, 21, of 11th Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:57 a.m. Saturday for possession of Schedule II crack cocaine with the intent to distribute, and possession of Schedule III hydrocodone.
—Lamarcus J. Francois, 20, of Duke Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:57 a.m. Saturday for a stop sign violation and possession of Schedule III hydrocodone.
An officer observed a vehicle fail to negotiate a stop sign and stopped the vehicle on La. 182 and Florence Street to investigate. The officer came into contact with the driver, Francois, and a passenger, Woods. As the officer was speaking to them, the officer observed a cellophane bag containing while pills on the floor of the vehicle, Banks said.
Woods and Francois were detained, and the item retrieved was discovered to be hydrocodone, Banks said. Woods was also found to be in possession of a cellophane bag that contained several pieces of suspected crack cocaine, the chief said. Both were jailed.
Banks reported the following arrests:
—Courtland J. Fullwood, 26, of Barrow Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:03 p.m. Friday for domestic abuse battery and resisting an officer.
Officers responded to a Barrow Street residence regarding a domestic disturbance. Officers learned that Fullwood was accused of striking a woman at the residence several times during a dispute before leaving the area, Banks said. Officers encountered Fullwood in the area during the investigation. Fullwood fled from officers and was apprehended a short time later hiding under another residence, Banks said. Fullwood was jailed.
—Jason J. Dupre, 33, of Aucoin Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:05 p.m. Friday for red light violation and driving under suspension.
An officer observed a vehicle disregard a traffic signal at the intersection of Seventh Street and Brashear Avenue and stopped the vehicle to investigate. The driver, Dupre, was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. Dupre was jailed.
—Jody R. Cubbedge, 56, of Third Street in Berwick, was arrested at 10:08 p.m. Friday on a 16th Judicial District Court warrant for failure to appear for revocation for theft and remaining on premises.
Officers located Cubbedge in the area of Sixth and Fig streets and placed him under arrest on outstanding warrants for the 16th Judicial District Court. Cubbedge was jailed.
—Gabriel J. Adams, 50, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:30 p.m. Friday for domestic abuse battery.
Officers were dispatched to a Fourth Street residence regarding a domestic disturbance. Officers learned that a male, Adams and a female were involved in a physical altercation prior to the officers’ arrival. Adams was accused of striking the woman causing minor injuries, Banks said. Adams was jailed.
—Carlos Cespedes, 46, of Victor II Boulevard in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:18 p.m. Saturday for violation of a protective order.
An officer patrolling the Seventh Street area of Morgan City observed Cespedes walking near a residence in the area. The officer, who was aware of an outstanding protective order prohibiting Cespedes from the area, detained him. He was jailed.
—Nyjul Hillebrandt, 18, of Lawrence Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:27 a.m. today for possession of Schedule I marijuana.
An officer patrolling a residential area near Federal Avenue observed a suspicious man and stopped to investigate. Hillebrandt was found in possession of a cellophane bag containing suspected marijuana, Banks said. Hillebrandt was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 122 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—David Lodrigue, 62, of the 1200 block of Opperman Street in Patterson, was arrested at 1:40 a.m. Saturday for criminal trespass, simple assault and disturbing the peace (intoxication). A deputy patrolling the area of Centerville was dispatched to a complaint of a suspicious person attempting to enter a residence on Cane Road.
The deputy made contact with Lodrigue and detained him. During the investigation, the deputy learned that Lodrigue beat loudly on the door of the residence attempting to enter the home, Hebert said. The deputy also smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on Lodrigue, the sheriff said. Lodrigue was jailed with bail set at $1,750.
—Jose Ortega, 47, of the 800 block of Lake Palourde Road in Amelia, was arrested at 1:37 a.m. for hit and run driving, no driver’s license and possession of alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle. A deputy responded to a complaint of a vehicle striking several mail boxes on Aucoin Street in Amelia.
The deputy located Ortega and a vehicle matching the description of the one that hit the mailboxes. During the course of the investigation, the deputy discovered damage to the vehicle that matched damage to the mailboxes. The deputy also observed an open bottle of beer inside the vehicle. Ortega was jailed and released on $1,750 bail.
—Gregory S. Payne, 39, of the 1900 block of Saturn Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:50 p.m. Sunday on two warrants for failure to appear. A deputy made contact with Payne at his residence. The deputy transported Payne to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
—Charleston Grogan, 19, of the 200 block of Grandwood Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 1:53 a.m. today on a warrant for domestic abuse battery and simple criminal damage to property. A deputy made contact with Grogan at his residence and learned of the warrant for his arrest.
The warrant stems from an investigation into a complaint of a battery. The deputy determined that Grogan shoved a female victim against a wall breaking her glasses, Hebert said. Grogan was jailed with no bail set.
—Leon E. Lipari, 31, of the 200 block of Grandwood Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 1:05 a.m. Saturday for domestic abuse battery. A deputy responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in Patterson. During the investigation, the deputy learned that Lipari and a woman were engaged in an argument when Lipari threw the female victim to the ground. Lipari was jailed with no bail set.
—Tyler J. Adams, 20, of the 200 block of Glenwood Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:10 a.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to appear and on a warrant from Terrebonne Parish for failure to appear. A deputy made contact with Adams at a residence on Pluto Street in Bayou Vista and learned of the active warrants for his arrest. Adams was jailed with no bail set.
—Jernell Payne, 36, of the 500 block of Park Street in Patterson, was arrested at 2:43 a.m. today for turning movements and required signals and on a Patterson Police Department warrant for simple battery involving domestic violence. A deputy observed a vehicle fail to signal a turn onto U.S. 90 in the Patterson area and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Payne, and learned of the active warrant for his arrest. The deputy transported Payne to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
—Dalia Perez-Copado, 40, of the 100 block of Nicole Lane in Berwick, was arrested at 11:41 a.m. Friday for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. The deputy learned from store personnel that Perez-Copado was seen concealing items on her person before attempting to leave the store without paying for the goods. Perez-Copado was released on a summons to appear in court Oct. 13.
—Jeana Williams, 21, of the 600 block of Utah Street in Berwick, was arrested Friday at 3:42 pm on a warrant for failure to appear. A deputy received information that Williams was at the Berwick Police Department and arrested her there on the warrant. The deputy transported Williams to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
—Lloyd Robinson, 32, of the 900 block of Short Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:24 a.m. Saturday for possession of Schedule I marijuana. A deputy patrolling the Sorrel area observed a man sitting in a vehicle placing a green vegetable like substance into a cigar wrapper, Hebert said. When the deputy made contact with the subject, identified as Robinson, he attempted to throw the substance out of the vehicle. The deputy identified the substance as marijuana and released Robinson on a summons to appear in court Oct. 13.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Chantel T. Burke, 20, of the 200 block of Railroad Avenue in Patterson, was arrested at 9:47 a.m. Saturday for criminal negligence. Burke was jailed with no bail set yet.
—Tresh M. Jones, 41, of the 900 block of Tall Timbers Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:41 p.m. Saturday for simple criminal damage to property. Jones was jailed on $1,000 bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Brandon Grant, 31, of Utah Street in Berwick, was arrested at 8:01 p.m. Saturday for disturbing the peace intoxicated. Grant was released on bail.
—Celeste Foster, 31, of Marie Street in Patterson, was arrested at 2:02 a.m. today for driving under suspension. Foster was released on bail.
