Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrests:
A Morgan City man was arrested Tuesday for domestic abuse battery second offense after the man kept a female at a residence against her will, Crouch said.
—Mario Tejera, 29, of Roselawn Drive in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:57 a.m. Tuesday for domestic abuse battery second offense, simple criminal damage to property and false imprisonment.
Officers were dispatched to assist a person at the Morgan City Police Department. Officers came into contact with a female who said her boyfriend, Tejera, had committed a battery on her at their residence located on Roselawn Drive, Crouch said.
The female said Tejera refused to let her leave the residence and kept her there against her will, threatening bodily harm, he said. The woman was able to escape the residence and summon assistance. The woman said Tejera attempted to prevent the escape and damaged the female’s vehicle, Crouch said. Officers located Tejera at the residence. After investigation and speaking to witnesses, Tejera was taken to the Morgan City Police Department where he remains in jail with no bail set
—Marshall Daniel Spires Jr., 47, of Teche Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 1:48 a.m. today on a warrant for a probation violation.
Officers patrolling the Grizzaffi Street area observed a suspicious vehicle, Crouch said. Upon attempting to investigate, they came into contact with Spires who, after checking, was found to be a wanted person for a probation violation. He was taken to the Morgan City Police Department where he remains.
—Fidel Castro, 27, of Halsey Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:02 p.m. Tuesday for self- mutilation by a prisoner.
Correctional officers at the Morgan City Jail discovered Castro unresponsive inside a cell. Castro was found to have tied a shirt around his neck in an apparent suicide attempt. Officers were able to free the noose and render first aid to the inmate, Crouch said.
Castro was treated at Teche Regional Medical Center. After treatment, he was taken back to the Morgan City Jail. Castro was originally taken to jail for a probation violation. He remains in jail and under watch, Crouch said.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 29 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrest in east St. Mary Parish:
—Michael Falgout, 27, of the 100 block of Myrtle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:55 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for simple battery. Falgout turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City after learning of the warrant for his arrest. Falgout was released on a summons to appear in court Jan. 14.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
