Morgan City man arrested for drug possession, intent to distribute

A 34-year-old Morgan City man was charged Monday for possession of Lortab with intent to distribute after sheriff’s deputies searched his vehicle and also found a child inside, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Nicolas Chauvin, 34, of the 600 block of General Patton Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:18 p.m. Monday for possession of Schedule III (Lortab) with intent to distribute and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile. 
Narcotics division detectives patrolling the Berwick area conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for improper lane use on Berwick South Road. Detectives received consent to search Chauvin and located Lortab pills, Hebert said. There was a child in the vehicle, Hebert said. Chauvin was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.
Hebert reported responding to 35 complaints during a 24-hour period in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Carl Wardel Williams, 51, of the 2000 block of Melba Place in Marrero, was arrested at 8:22 a.m. Monday for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. On Oct. 23, the sheriff’s office received a report of a vehicle belonging to a business in Amelia that was being driven by an employee without permission. Williams returned with the company truck Monday. Williams was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.
—Dennis Dardar, 33, of the 100 block of Texas Gulf Road in Bourg, was arrested at 4:47 p.m. Monday for theft of goods and on warrants from the 32nd Judicial District for failure to appear on the charge of theft of goods and probation violation. 
—Troy Lusco, 31, of Houma, was arrested at 4:47 p.m. Monday for two counts theft of goods and possession of drug paraphernalia. 
A deputy responding to a report of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista received information that the suspects in the thefts had left the store. Using a provided description, the deputy located the suspect vehicle in Morgan City and conducted a traffic stop. The two left the store without paying for items with a value of more than $500. While conducting a search of Lusco, a deputy located a hypodermic needle and a burned piece of aluminum can, items consistent with illegal drug use, Hebert said. Dardar and Lusco were taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set. 
—Amanda Ross, 26, of the 1300 block of Burke Place in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:45 p.m. Monday on three warrants for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court (contempt of court) and on a warrant from St. Martin Parish for failure to appear on the charge of reckless operation. A deputy was notified by Berwick police that Ross turned herself in at Berwick Police Department on the active warrants. Ross was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.
—Eddie Ray Gray, 21, of the 1400 block of Hickory Street in Patterson, was arrested at 6:59 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of simple criminal damage to property, remaining where forbidden, and improper child restraint. Gray turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville. He was released on $5,000 bail.
—April Johnson-Jacobs, 31, of the 400 block of Country Road 643 in Quitman, Miss., was arrested at 8:30 p.m. Monday for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. Jacobs was released on a summons to appear in court on Jan. 10.
Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrests:
—Roland J. Loupe, 27, of Sandra Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:36 a.m. Monday for theft less than $300.
Officers received a complaint in regards to a theft of a wallet from the waiting room of a local doctor’s office.
Loupe was released after posting bail. 
—Adrienne Slade Paul, 20, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:42 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear for resisting an officer, a warrant for failure to appear for disturbing the peace, and a warrant for a probation violation. Paul was taken to the Morgan City Jail facility where she remains.
—Matthew James Miller, 19, of General Clark in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:21 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to pay fines for possession of marijuana, a warrant for failure to yield, and a warrant for careless operation.
Miller was taken to jail where he remains.
—Jarvis Melton, 27, of Marshall Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:50 p.m. Monday for possession of Schedule II controlled dangerous substance-cocaine with the intent to distribute.
Officers responded to a call in regards to suspicious person in the 300 block of Egle Street. During the investigation, officers located a cellophane bag containing several pieces of suspected crack cocaine. Melton was identified as the person who possessed the substance and had intended to sell the drug, Crouch said. He was taken to the Morgan City Jail with no bail yet set. 
—Keddrick D. Jones, 26, of Cherry Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:44 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear for disturbing the peace and a warrant for failure to pay a fine for resisting an officer.
Jones was taken to jail and released after posting $784 cash bail.
—Randy Bourgeois, 38, of Filmore Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:16 a.m. Friday on a warrant for speeding. 
Bourgeois was located at the Franklin Police Department and released after posting cash bail. 
—Bryan Keith Maize, 34, of Sixth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:31 p.m. Friday on a warrant for contempt of court for failure to pay restitution and littering.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests: 
—Brodney Williams, 24, of the 1800 block of N Street in Patterson, was arrested at 3:29 a.m. today for probation and parole violation and failure to appear. Williams is being held with no bail set yet. 
—Shawn Welsh, 42, of the 400 block of Taft Street in Patterson, was arrested at 7:09 a.m. Saturday for disturbing the peace intoxicated and on a warrant for another jurisdiction. Welsh is still being held on $410 bail. 
—William Daugherty, 56, of the 1700 block of Fern Street in Patterson, was arrested at 11:48 p.m. Thursday for unlawful purchase of alcoholic beverages on behalf of people under 21. Daugherty is being held on $1,000 bail
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Scott Carter, 30, of Terri D. Road in New Iberia, was arrested at 7:51 p.m. Monday on a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for felony theft and on three sheriff’s office warrants for simple burglary. Carter is awaiting bail to be set.
