Morgan City man charged with check theft

A 24-year-old Morgan City man is accused of theft of assets of an aged or disabled person stemming from an April investigation in which detectives learned he allegedly used a credit card without the owner’s permission and also cashed a stolen check, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Erick J. Billiot, 24, of Arenz Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:13 p.m. Monday on warrants charging him with 19 counts of unauthorized use of an access card totaling $557, theft of assets of aged or disabled person, forgery in the amount of $500, and Berwick Police warrants charging him with unauthorized use of an access card and theft of assets of aged or disabled person.
Billiot was located on Ditch Avenue and was placed under arrest for outstanding warrants for the Morgan City Police Department.
The Morgan City Police warrants stem from an April investigation, which alleges Billiot used a credit card without the owner’s permission and cashed a stolen check, Blair said.
Billiot also holds outstanding warrants for the Berwick Police Department. Billiot was incarcerated in the Morgan City jail.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Johnny Deberry, 59, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:46 p.m. Monday on a Sixth Ward City Court warrant charging him with contempt of court.
Deberry was located on Railroad Avenue and jailed.
—Timothy S. Faulk, 38, of La. 182 West in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:51 p.m. Monday on the charges of disturbing the peace intoxicated and self-mutilation by a prisoner.
Officers were dispatched to a local apartment complex on La. 182 in regard to a disturbance. When officers arrived, they noticed Faulk yelling at people in the area and using profanities, Blair said.
Faulk was taken to the police department for booking. Once at the station, Faulk was placed in a holding cell due to his uncooperative behavior, Blair said. Faulk began to bang his head on the wall of the cell, causing a laceration to his head, Blair said. After receiving medical treatment, Faulk was charged with self-mutilation of a prisoner.
—Ricky Morse, 34, of Berwick, was arrested at 7:26 a.m. Friday on the charges of speeding 41 mph in a 30 mph zone, driving under suspension, possession of Schedule I marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A patrolling officer in the area of La. 182 and Federal Avenue noticed a vehicle driving higher than the rate posted. A vehicle stop was conducted and the driver, Morse, was determined to have a suspended driver’s license. The officer also located suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle, Blair said.
—John Ashmore, 44, of New Iberia, was arrested at 10:28 p.m. Friday on the charge of appearing in public intoxicated.
Officers were dispatched to a motel on Brashear Avenue in regard to having a person removed. When officers arrived, witnesses pointed out the suspect, Ashmore. Ashmore appeared very intoxicated, Blair said. He was jailed.
—Bobbie J. Topham, 33, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:15 p.m. Friday on a warrant charging her with no driver’s license and no tail lights.
Topham was located at a local bar on La. 182. A local warrants check was done and it was learned that she held outstanding warrants for the Sixth Ward City Court. She was jailed.
—Brittan M. Boudreaux, 31, of Morgan City, was arrested at 11:49 p.m. Friday on the charges of resisting an officer, criminal trespass, possession of drug paraphernalia, a warrant charging him with two counts of failure to appear and contempt of court.
Detectives with the Morgan City Police Department narcotics division attempted to make contact with Boudreaux in the area of Fourth Street when he fled on foot, Blair said. Officers were able to subdue Boudreaux and located a pipe on him that is commonly used to smoke illegal narcotics. He also held outstanding warrants for the Sixth Ward City Court. Boudreaux was jailed.
—Doresa M. Bland, 25, of Cypress Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:26 p.m. Saturday on a warrant charging her with failure to pay a fine and a warrant for probation violation.
Bland was located at the Morgan City Police Department. Bland held outstanding warrants for the Sixth Ward City Court. Bland was jailed.
—Pablo Navarrette-Ibarra, 25, of Austin, Texas, was arrested at 2:55 p.m. Saturday on the charges of possession of Schedule I marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers were dispatched to a motel on La. 182 in Morgan City in regard to a suspect harassing the housekeepers and the patrons. When officers arrived, officers were shown the room the person was occupying. Inside the room was Navarrete-Ibarra, Blair said. While officers were in the room, they noticed drug paraphernalia and suspected marijuana. Navarrete-Ibarra was jailed.
—Cynthia A. Duval, 46, of Mallard Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:50 p.m. Saturday on the charges of hit and run driving, careless operation and driving under suspension.
Officers were dispatched to Duke and Eighth streets in regard to a vehicle accident in which one of the drivers had fled the scene, Blair said. When officers arrived, they spoke to the victim who stated that he was making a stop at the intersection of Duke and Eighth streets when another vehicle crashed into the rear of his vehicle, Blair said.
The driver of the other vehicle, Duval, returned to the scene, Blair said.
According to reports, she stated she was afraid and fled the scene.
Duval was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. It was determined that Duval’s driver’s license was under suspension, Duval was jailed.
—Shane P. Albert, 33, of Morgan City, was arrested at 10:44 p.m. Saturday on the charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of Schedule II methamphetamine, possession of Schedule IV Alprazolam, possession of Schedule III Suboxone and two headlights required.
—Jacob Gil, 29, of Kimberly Drive in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:44 p.m. Saturday on the charges of possession of Schedule II methamphetamine, possession of Schedule III Suboxone with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule IV Alprazolam, possession of Schedule II amphetamine/dextroamphtamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Felicia Tharp, 39, of Ann Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:44 p.m. Saturday on the charges of possession of Schedule II methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A patrolling officer in the area of Fifth Street and Brashear Avenue in Morgan City noticed a vehicle with improper lighting and conducted a traffic stop.
The officer also noticed two passengers in the vehicle identified as Gil and Tharp. Albert gave officers consent to search the vehicle, Blair said.
Officers found suspected methamphetamine, pills identified as Alprazolam and amphetamine/dextromphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Gil was found to possess several packs of Suboxone. All suspects were jailed.
—Deandra D. Johnson, 29, of Chester Bowles Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:16 p.m. Sunday on a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant charging her with failure to appear.
—Charles R. Brooks, 57, of La. 182 East in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:16 p.m. Sunday on charges of no seat belt, driving under suspension, resisting an officer by giving false information, possession of Schedule I marijuana second offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.
An officer patrolling in the area of Ninth Street noticed a vehicle with the driver not wearing a seat belt. A vehicle stop was conducted and the driver was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. The driver, identified as Brooks, had given officers a false name. During the investigation, the officer determined that Brooks’ driver’s license was under suspension. The passenger, Johnson, was found to have an outstanding warrant for the 16th Judicial District Court. Officers also located suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Both suspects were jailed.
—Rigoberto Rosales-Castillo, 31, of Bush Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:09 a.m. Monday on the charge of domestic abuse battery.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Bush Street in regard to a domestic disturbance. Officers spoke to the victim and she stated that she and Castillo had gotten into a physical alteration, in which Castillo struck her in the face. Officers noticed marks on the face of the victim, Blair said. Officers located Castillo in the residence, and he was jailed.
—Carlos Santos, 36, of Morgan City, was arrested at 6:42 p.m. Sunday on the charge of criminal trespass.
Officers were dispatched to a local apartment complex on La. 182 in regard to a disturbance, Blair said.
When officers arrived, management stated that Santos was banned from the property. Officers located Santos on the property. He was jailed.
—John R. Pitre, 24, of General Hodges Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:47 p.m. Sunday on the charge of disturbing the peace and remaining after being forbidden.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on General Hodges Street in regard to a disturbance.
When officers arrived, a witness stated Pitre was asked to leave the residence several times, but refused, Blair said. Officers made contact with Pitre, who appeared intoxicated. Pitre then became loud and began using profanities, Blair said. Pitre was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Alyssa L. Ashmore, 25, of the 500 block of Fifth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:44 p.m. Monday on a warrant charging her with simple battery.
The warrant is the result of an investigation into a complaint of a battery that occurred June 10 on Fairview Street in Bayou Vista. The deputy learned that Ashmore punched another woman, Hebert said. Ashmore turned herself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City after learning of the warrant for her arrest. Other suspects were also involved in the battery, the sheriff said. This is the third arrest made in this case, Hebert said. The investigation is ongoing.
—Tyler Davis, 18, of the 100 block of Natalie Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 10:23 a.m. Monday on a warrant for violation of protective orders. A deputy investigating a complaint received May 17 determined that Davis attempted to make contact with a woman via an online social network which directly violated a protective order, Hebert said. A deputy located Davis at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse on the warrant and transported him to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
—Eric T. Gaskins, 34, of the 100 block of Friendship Alley in Amelia, was arrested at 11:32 p.m. Monday on the charge of entering contraband into a penal institution. Gaskins turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center to serve time on an administrative sanction for probation/parole.
During the booking process, deputies observed Gaskins attempting to conceal something in his mouth. During the subsequent investigation, deputies located Schedule IV Xanax pills, Hebert said. No bail is set.
—Elizabeth Lewis, 23, of the 200 block of Fadal Street in Gibson, was arrested at 2:33 a.m. today on warrants for failure to appear on the charge of criminal mischief, for failure to appear on the charges of simple battery and resisting an officer by refusing to give identity, for failure to appear on the charge of theft of goods and a Lafayette warrant for failure to appear.
Lewis was turned in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on bond surrender, Hebert said. During booking, deputies located the active warrants for her arrest. No bail is set.
—Caswick Clark, 28, of the 300 block of Third Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:34 a.m. today on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and improper display of license plate. Clark was turned in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on bond surrender, the sheriff said.
During booking, deputies located the active warrant for his arrest. No bail is set.
—Elizabeth Jones, 52, of the 200 block of Mars Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 2:32 a.m. Saturday on the charge of disturbing the peace intoxicated.
A deputy was dispatched to a complaint of a disturbance at the residence.
—Brandon Jones, 43, of the 200 block of Mars Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 2:32 a.m. Saturday on the charge of disturbing the peace intoxicated. A deputy was dispatched to a complaint of a disturbance at the residence.
The deputy made contact with both suspects and learned that the two were arguing loudly, causing a disturbance in the area, Hebert said.
The deputy observed that both suspects displayed multiple signs of intoxication, Hebert said. Both were booked into jail and later released on summonses to appear in court Sept. 16.
—Peggy Fabre, 48, of the 300 block of Adams Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:36 a.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of issuing worthless checks. Fabre was located at her home, booked in to the parish jail and released on $750 bail.
—Heather N. Harvey, 30, of the 200 block of Trevino Street in Berwick, was arrested at 9:20 a.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of speeding and failure to honor written promise to appear.
A deputy conducting a traffic stop on U.S. 90 in the Baldwin area made contact with Harvey and learned of the active warrant for her arrest. Harvey was booked and released on $1,000 bail.
—Sydnie Harrison, 19, of the 100 block of Shady Grove Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 3:56 p.m. Saturday on a warrant charging her with simple battery.
—A juvenile female, 15, of Patterson, was arrested at 4:15 p.m. Saturday on a warrant charging her with simple battery.
Deputies located Harrison and the juvenile at their residences on the warrants. Harrison was booked and released after posting $500 bail. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
The warrants are the result of an investigation into a complaint of a battery that occurred June 10 on Fairview Street in Bayou Vista.
The deputy learned that Harrison and the juvenile female punched another woman, Hebert said. Other suspects were also involved in the battery, and the investigation is ongoing, Hebert said.
—Michael Copeland, 44, of the 300 block of Clarke Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 10:40 p.m. Saturday on the charges of domestic abuse battery and criminal damage to property.
A deputy responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence in Bayou Vista and learned that Copeland pushed a woman and broke a clock, Hebert said. Copeland was jailed with no bail set.
—Sheila Kimbro, 41, of the 300 block of Clarke Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 10:49 p.m. Saturday on the charge of disturbing the peace obscene language.
A deputy investigating a complaint of a disturbance at a residence in Bayou Vista learned that Kimbro was yelling profanities, causing a disturbance in the area.
The deputy released Kimbro on a summons to appear in court Sept. 16.
—Billy Smith Sr., 53, of the 300 block of Clarke Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 8:34 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt, failure to stop at a stop sign and failure to honor written promise to appear.
Smith was located at his home and jailed with bail set at $319.50.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Tyler Rogers, 20, of the 200 block of Hebert Street in Berwick, was arrested at 12:35 p.m. Saturday on a Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for failure to appear on the charge of speeding. Rogers was awaiting transfer to Terrebonne Parish.
—Brandon Grant, 32, of the 2600 block of Johnson Drive in Berwick, was arrested at 4:31 a.m. today on the charge of disturbing the peace 10th offense. Grant was jailed with bail set at $295.
—Tony Weston, 39, of the 2600 block of Fifth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 4:54 a.m. today on the charges of disturbing the peace, simple battery and two counts of resisting an officer. Weston was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Kenneth Kiff Jr., 29, of the 600 block of Red Cypress Road in Patterson, was arrested at 11:58 a.m. Monday on the charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of Schedule II drugs. Kiff was jailed with no bail set yet.
—Zachary Allen Hebert, 18, of the 100 block of Cashier Street in Amelia, was arrested at 9:08 p.m. Monday on the charge of possession of marijuana first offense. Hebert was jailed on $2,000 bail.
—Destiny A. Bennett, 28, of the 300 block of Ellis Street in Patterson, was arrested at 6:27 p.m. Sunday on the charge of simple battery involving domestic violence.
Bennett was jailed with no bail set yet.
—Alvin Robinson Jr., 40, of the 900 block of Clothilde Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:55 p.m. Sunday on the charges of driving while intoxicated first offense and careless operation. Robinson was jailed with no bail set yet.
Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire reported the following arrest relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Jimmy Williams, 37, of Lajaunie Court in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:44 p.m. Sunday on the charge of possession of a Legend Drug (Buspirone Hydrochloride) with intent to distribute and a Sabine Parish bench warrant charging him with driving under suspension.
The arrest stems from officers responding to a single vehicle accident.
Williams gave officers consent to search the vehicle where officers located the legend drug, McGuire said. Williams was jailed with no bail set yet.
