Morgan City man faces rape, false imprisonment charges

A 51-year-old Morgan City man is in jail after allegedly raping a woman and holding her inside a home against her will, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Tyrone F. Thomas, 51, of Sixth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:59 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of first-degree rape and false imprisonment.
This morning, an officer responded to a medical facility on La. 70 in regard to a reported rape. During the investigation, the victim identified Thomas as a suspect in the crime. Thomas was accused of raping and holding the victim against her will, Blair said. Officers located the suspect, Thomas, at a Sixth Street home.
During a subsequent search of the home, investigators recovered evidence that supported the allegations, Blair said. Detectives obtained arrest warrants for Thomas, and he was jailed with no bail set yet. The incident remains under investigation.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Angel M. Duhon, 26, of Burkette Street in Milton, was arrested at 9:11 a.m. Wednesday on the charge of disturbing the peace.
Officers responded to a local state government building on Victor II Boulevard in regard to a call of a subject causing a disturbance. Officers spoke with the management and several witnesses to the incident. Police were told that Duhon, who was still in the office, went into the building talking loudly and using profane language.
Management told Duhon to calm down but Duhon ignored the warnings. Duhon then went behind the counter of the office and continued to cause a disturbance and ignore their warnings, Blair said. Duhon was jailed.
—Amanda Lake, 34, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:38 a.m. Wednesday on warrants charging her with entering or remaining where forbidden and disturbing the peace.
Lake was transported from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office jail to the Morgan City Police Department Jail in regard to an active arrest warrant. The warrant stems from an investigation into an incident reported April 24 at a Lawrence Street address. Lake was jailed.
—De’erin D. Thomas, 19, of Gen. McArthur Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging him with probation violation. Thomas was arrested in the Morgan City Court in regard to an active arrest warrant. Thomas was jailed.
—Dennis J. Kist, 27, of Chapel Road in Okeana, Ohio, was arrested at 8:14 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of criminal trespassing and on a San Francisco Sheriff’s Office warrant for felony drug charges.
—Jesse Whitten, 29, of Fern Hill Road in Rainer, Oregon, was arrested at 8:14 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of criminal trespassing.
—Charles B. Bunn, 22, of Old Chapel Road in Newsoms, Virginia, was arrested at 8:14 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of criminal trespassing.
—Sampson Isony Eelee Sneed, 28, of First Place South in Federal Way, Washington, was arrested at 8:14 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of criminal trespassing.
Officers responded to the railroad tracks at Fourth Street and Railroad Avenue in regard to people sleeping in a rail car. Police arrived and spoke with the conductor of the train who told officers they had discovered four subjects sleeping inside one of the rail cars.
Police located the subjects who were identified as Kist, Whitten, Bunn and Sneed. All four subjects were arrested on the charge of criminal trespassing and booked into Morgan City jail. A warrants check revealed that Kist had a San Francisco Sheriff’s Office warrant for felony drug charges. Kist remains incarcerated awaiting extradition.
—Bryan K. Bruno, 41, of Landry Trailer Park in Loreauville, was arrested at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and improper tail lighting.
A patrolling officer ob-served a vehicle with a broken tail lamp and made a traffic stop, identifying the driver as Bruno. Bruno’s behavior made officers suspicious he may be involved in illegal drug activity, Blair said.
Police found suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Bruno was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 38 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Richard Cormier, 28, of the 300 block of La. 182 East in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 1:11 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of domestic abuse battery, false imprisonment and criminal damage to prop-erty.
A deputy investigating a report of a battery found evidence that Cormier grabbed a woman around her neck and threw her to the floor, physically preventing her from leaving a home in Bayou Vista. The deputy also located the victim’s clothes and found that Cormier poured bleach on them, the sheriff said. Cormier was jailed with no bail set.
—Abriahn S. Baker, 19, of the 300 block of Clarke Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 11:26 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of domestic abuse battery, criminal damage to property, disturbing the peace and resisting an officer.
A deputy responded to a disturbance in progress at a residence in Bayou Vista. The deputy made contact with several subjects, including Baker, who was yelling profanities.
As the deputy began the investigation into the com-plaint, Baker attempted to strike a man. Baker was detained. While being placed in handcuffs, Baker repeatedly pulled away from the deputy. The deputy later found evidence that Baker broke a door frame and threw a vase, causing it to break inside the home. The deputy also observed that there was a child in the home at the time. Baker was jailed with no bail set.
—Travis L. Gilmore, 24, of the 400 block of Leo Street in Patterson, was arrested at 3:43 a.m. today on the charges of stop sign violation, possession of open alcoholic beverages in motor vehicles, ignition interlock device offense and operating a vehicle while under suspension for certain prior offenses.
A deputy observed a vehicle fail to make a complete stop at a stop sign before entering onto the highway and stopped the vehicle in the parking lot of a nearby business. The driver was identified as Gilmore.
The deputy observed an open container of an alcoholic beverage in the vehicle. Also, the deputy found that Gilmore had an ignition interlock device restriction on his driver’s license and that the vehicle he was operating was not equipped with such a device. Gilmore was jailed with bail set at $13,250.
—Kane Smith, 17, of the 100 block of Burchfield Lane in Berwick, was arrested at 7:24 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of distribution of marijuana, violation of a controlled dangerous sub-stance law, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, transactions involving drug proceeds and resisting an officer.
—Justin Taylor, 18, of the 200 block of Field Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:24 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of distribution of marijuana and violation of a controlled dangerous sub-stance law.
—Bree Aucoin, 21, of the 1400 block of Middle Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:24 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of marijuana second offense and general speed law.
—Caleb Gros, 19, of the 100 block of Sun Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:24 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of marijuana third offense, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law and obstruction of justice.
Detectives observed a vehicle traveling 45 mph in a 35 mph zone in Centerville and conducted a traffic stop. When the vehicle stopped, Smith exited and fled on foot. The other three occupants of the vehicle, Taylor, Gros, and the driver, Aucoin, were detained pending further investigation.
The stop occurred near the school board building. A detective pursued Smith and apprehended him behind a residence on Yellow Bayou Road. Detectives located four bags of high grade marijuana in Smith’s possession that were packaged in a manner consistent with street level drug sales.
Detectives also located a digital scale and plastic baggies in a backpack Smith was carrying. Continuing the investigation into the illegal drugs, detectives received consent to search the vehicle and located a fifth bag of marijuana in the center console. During the arrests, a detective observed Gros discard a hand rolled marijuana cigarette and attempt to conceal the illegal substance by stepping on it, Hebert said. All four suspects were booked into parish jail. No bail is set for Smith, Gros, or Taylor. Aucoin was released on a summons to appear in court Aug. 29.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Jason Daigle, 35, of Fourth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging him with illegal possession of stolen things. Daigle posted $500 bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
