Morgan City man faces rape trial

The trial of Glenn Joseph McNemar III for raping his 66-year-old neighbor is scheduled to begin Tuesday in the 16th Judicial courtroom of Judge Lori A. Landry.
McNemar, 26, is accused by Morgan City police of having scaled the fence that separated his residence from his neighbor on Cottonwood Street, breaking into her home with two fence posts and a pipe and then forcing her into a sex act at knife point on Oct. 1, 2012.
McNemar is charged with one count each of aggravated rape, aggravated burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The arrest affidavit obtained as a public record from the clerk of court said the police department got a tip the day after the rape that McNemar was involved and was planning to leave the area.
McNemar said after he committed the crime, he took the woman’s nightgown because it had evidence on it, according to the affidavit.
The affidavit said McNemar told police he hid the nightgown under a shed in the rear of the victim’s yard and then jumped back over the fence and returned to his residence. The nightgown was later located by police under the shed, the report said.
The affidavit said McNemar had a needle in his pocket when officers went to his house.
Landry ruled McNemar is ruled competent to stand trial.
